@xo because of the way Apple builds their OS, from what I understand it's very difficult to secure from back-door entry. Also, it's likely that comms can be intercepted at the provider level (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) regardless of the phone they use.

Best way to avoid eavesdropping is probably to meet up at a local coffee shop. 🤷‍♂️

Social media is what you bring to it ... and I see people just bring more of the same anger, complaining, and trauma for their own terrible media experiences to CoSo and that helps no one heal.

I want to celebrate positive things in my life, to share with others and to have their positivity shared with me. I want to experience new and different voices that aren't about adding to the cesspool, but rising above it. Haven't we all had enough trauma?

@catlynne333 what compassion they do have seems to be limited to their "tribe." If they don't identify with them directly, either through intimate acquaintance or through similarity (both physical and behavioral) then they're "other," non-human, and not worthy of their care.

@kel I've been noticing that too, especially when I dip into Twitter for a visit. All the anger and vitriol there. I hadn't really noticed till I started to spend a little time here a couple of days ago.

'Republicans’ secret plan': New op-ed urges Democrats to expose the GOP agenda

Republicans today are trying to pull the wool over the eyes of Americans again, just as Nixon did, only this time by falsely claiming they have a plan to slow inflation.

If you've tried searching for a user and aren't getting results, either they don't exist yet or their account is locked.

Hashtag searches might say there are no results, but clicking on the hashtag is a good way to verify.

When searching for keywords, it seems to prioritize your posts. This is helpful for chasing down something you posted before.

@mikeflstfi yep, which I think is exactly why Twitter didn't have one. I agree that it's a good feature. What I like about this option is that you can edit the post without copy/pasting, relinking, etc., even though you lose the likes (which is a big whatever)

“[Elon] …it turns out that most people do not want to participate in horrible unmoderated internet spaces full of shitty racists and not-all-men fedora bullies.”

“ write as many polite letters to advertisers as you want, but you cannot reasonably expect to collect any meaningful advertising revenue if you do not promise those advertisers “brand safety.” That means you have to ban racism, sexism, transphobia, [etc] that is totally legal in the United States..”

the last 27.5 years, the Democrats held the House and Senate majority with a President that was a Democrat, for only 3.5 YEARS.

The GOP, on the other hand, held the House and Senate majority with a Republican President for 8 years.

Dems on the other hand only held a House and Senate majority for 5.5 out of 27.5 years.

@SaintOlhaOfKyiv that happened to me once this morning. I'm guessing there's a lot of strain on the system with all the new members hitting. Give it some time to settle.
