Running a chainsaw sounds like a lot more fun than it is. But yes, you could. π€£
First, I prefer a Milwaukee Sawzall for about 90% of cutting shit jobs, though a chainsaw is better for you know, cutting down big ass trees.
Second, if I won't lend my good scissors, I'm definitely not loaning a saw.
Finally, most folks really don't need either.
Yer fine. π
I try very very hard to be generous in my opinions, but yes, those folks can all die slow painful deaths with funerals attended by no one who isn't either paid or wants to confirm you are dead.
BTW, we had a particularly scummy real estate developer here who died years ago in a private plane crash - no lie, I think half the funeral attendees were there to stick a pin in the corpse.
I'd rather not be "that person", but so many seem to want to be. π
When we were escaping Helene, we were watching the digital gas signs changing (increasing) on the highway as we were driving.
Made me sick.
The logic you hear is "if people really NEED it, they will buy it and folks who don't won't".
In practice, folks who can afford it buy as much as possible at whatever price, draining the supply.
If you can't afford $10/gal gas, you may die. Just to be blunt.
I remember during Hugo, the local mini-mart put up a sign that said "5 gallon limit, everyone needs generators and chainsaws, not just you." and sold at the normal price.
Let me provide a concrete example:
When I was trapped at the BP (closed) on the mountain in Helene, a gentleman brought in gas from SC and identified the nearest open station.
We topped off 20-25 cars to make sure they all had enough gas to make it to the station and pulled out.
Had we used that gas on a few cars to get to their final destination? Three cars instead of 20+.
I don't know who in the "price gouging is important to maintain supply and demand" crowd needs to hear this, but...
It's MUCH more efficient and saves more people to cap the amount of gas at the level needed to reach the next station than to allow a few people go get enough gas to travel beyond the red/yellow zone.
It's literally how we revolutionized JIT supply chains, FFS.

Like so close, but so fucking stupid...
It's going to kill a lot of poor people, old people, disabled people, and Red Hats. And since no one apparently knows how disasters work, the good Christians will show up waving loaded guns around, demanding gummit cheese and screaming that someone owes them money for breathing and they know it's going to "them".
Just like always.
Nope. Neither of those groups move into the area until after the impact and when requested by the state. They stage in nearby states.
That may have worked. π±
Convo yesterday on how Kamala would do with all the global bullies. I commented that every one of them knew when you have a real problem and everyone is giving you the runaround, you breathe a sigh of relief when you get the no-nonsense, super competent, middle aged woman who says, "We'll get this fixed."
This stopped the politics discussion and turned it into stories about finally getting to the woman who listened, worked thru it, and got it fixed. π

As terrifying as they are when you are in them, hurricanes are just beautiful. Absolute masterpieces - the power of water and air. π

He's a convenience liar.
They don't. It's why local aid is often setup nearby.
Like poll workers and librarians, he's painting targets on them. π
Super strange that DeSantis hasn't implemented contra lanes yet.
I'm thinking Tang doubles down on the hurricane conspiracies until someone kills a FEMA worker in Florida.
He couldn't get blood in Ohio or North Carolina, but Florida Man...
