@mfa Call me cynical, but if reviewers are panning this series it seems to coincided with a female character taking more of a prominent role. I personally don't go anywhere near reviews, but am willing to bet most are written by dudes.

I'm bloody loving the show.

can't praise The Mandalorian enough.

Absolutely enjoying non space wizard Star Wars

Watching 'Marlow'. Terrible 5.1 sound mix: Score is lifeless, dialogue sounds thin.

No TV tonight, just a playlist of my favourite trance bangers. 🔊

Headline Fantasies: Coffee and Obesity

"Their press release, promoting a potential role for calorie-free caffeinated drinks to prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes, sparked some sensational headline fantasies about coffee. It generated 105 news articles.

But it didn’t do much to enlighten the public about caffeine, obesity, and diabetes. Instead, it sowed the seeds for confusion and magical thinking."

@sarcasmsign What a treat. Both my grandfather and father used to play their greatest hits and 'Tango in the Night' in the car. 🖖

Watched Fleetwood Mac's 'The Dance' ('Rumours' lineup reunion from 1997). First time in a long time. The vocals, the guitar solos, the glances between Nix & Buckingham; the history. The show closing with McVie on her own performing 'Songbird' put a lump in my throat. They don't make bands like that anymore. 🤘

Good episode of Picard this week, interesting episode of The Mandalorian, too. The latter is a warm cup of cuddles and fun. I usually watch it right after Picard.

Bloods rose to the high teens overnight. Revenge of the peanut M&Ms, or revenge of the hot crossed bun? 🤔 Whichever makes for the better movie title, I guess. 😜

The only time I want to read about right-wingers, certain former presidents, prime ministers, racists, homophones, and transphobes is when they die; hopefully in an agonising and undignified way.

I couldn't give a beer battered f*ck with chips and curry sauce what happens to them while they're hogging oxygen. Nothing satisfying enough ever comes of it, and it never will; even on a Tuesday.

Thank the mighty Zarquon for word filters.

Anyway, it's 3am and Morpheus is calling. Nos da (good night)

@Clavius_42 I took a correspondence course in novel writing (while employed at my day job) and one suggestion stayed with me ever since: “It’s not essential that your writing support you; it’s essential that you support your writing.” Many very famous authors faced years of rejection. Humanity would have lost a great deal of fine literature if their “loved ones” had successfully steered them away from writing.

Random: Joe Straczynski's 'Becoming a Writer, Staying a Writer' has an Interesting chapter where he writes about 'the tyranny of reasonable voices' - where loved ones will desuade someone from persuing a writing, or other 'non-traditional' career in favour of getting 'a proper job', thinking they are protecting them from the prospect of failure, humiliation, poverty, low chances of succeeding: "Get a proper job/income and you might, with luck, get to persue your art as a 'lesser' priority".

@NorthernInvader Yeah.... just realised, that's two gone from that show in a matter of months. 🙁

I became aware of Lance Reddick through watching Fringe. Then there was John Wick. What draws me most toward an actor is the voice. He was one of those talents who could sound great reading the phone book.
RIP, Mr Reddick.
