So this is where we’re at: #COVID is surging but folks are sick of hearing about it so we’re just gonna ignore it and hope it’s gonna leave them alone?
My husband just lost a good friend to COVID. People may be “done” with the pandemic /epidemic, but COVID is NOT done with us.
Elizabeth de la Vega:
Telling people that they are an "institution in a death penalty" and that you need blanket presidential immunity (because you know you've committed crimes in the past and you plan to do so in the future) is one hell of a campaign platform. Who could resist such an upbeat message?
I just learned that a friend of mine who had partial deafness with Covid has permanent partial deafness. It’s a documented thing. And yes, she was fully vaccinated. Reminder: Vaccination may not prevent contracting Covid, but only make it less severe.
Every so often, the disquieting/surreal/ludicrous reality sinks in…AGAIN. This morning in the NYT we have this helpful chart with explanations and I’m reminded that the opposition party has become a real cult and is all but certain to nominate a candidate who’s EVEN MORE of a scumbag now than he was THEN.
See the “delays are a critical piece” — what a thing to be acknowledged. 🤬🤬🤬

One of my favorite Cheap Trick songs, even without their real bassist - big, stupid fun.
