I just learned that a friend of mine who had partial deafness with Covid has permanent partial deafness. It’s a documented thing. And yes, she was fully vaccinated. Reminder: Vaccination may not prevent contracting Covid, but only make it less severe.
@MommaJ Prior to Covid’s onset Trump dismantled the pandemic response office (there’s a formal name for it) that Obama enacted. His mishandling of Covid and the damage his rhetoric continues to cause… I’m preaching to the choir.
@CanisPundit Oh God, that's awful to read about your friend. I've said to Sharon many times that while I had some tinnitus before getting Covid, it's far, far worse now but wondered whether it's psychological.
So many people who are bashing Biden for the economy, food prices(?!) and God knows what else have quickly forgotten that DFG had the country at an absolute standstill during Covid. And while it's still around, Biden & the Administration got things moving again (again... choir)
@BillyBones @MommaJ keep in mind the variants are ahead of the vaccines. And the latest one, JN.1, is known to evade immunity from prior infection. Just in the almost 4 years of US Covid over 200 disease processes have been attributed to it. And that’s just the short term.
Another “not a feel good” Covid article about Microstructural brain abnormalities, fatigue, and cognitive dysfunction after mild COVID-19:
@BillyBones Have you seen/heard of the newer tinnitus treatment using a Lenire device? I heard about it several months ago on NPR. Not sure if it would be a help to your specific situation, but it sounded really promising. Here's a link to the text and audio.
@Ironworker229 No, it's the first I've ever heard of it! 🤔
@CanisPundit Oh no! 😳 This is awful. I know Covid does impact people's nervous systems in various ways. I'm sorry about your friend, that sucks.
@janallmac thanks. The breadth of Covid’s potential harm is stunning and we’re in a short term view. Years from now we’ll see what might develop as a consequence of infection. Ex. Incidence of cancers from Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). 90% (or more from another study I’ve read) of world population gets EBV; some asymptomatic never knowing. Some studies note a correlation between Covid & EBV reactivation. Long Covid for some may be concurrent EBV.
@CanisPundit
My good friend had a mysterious attack that had many similarities to Multiple Sclerosis. Because it was related to her nervous system, I wonder if it too may have had something to do with Covid? I don't know, of course. It is apparently not MS, at any rate, and the doctors cannot quite figure out what caused it. It occurred a few months after her family had Covid.
@CanisPundit that's just crazy.....I'll never forgive the entire Trump Administration for not doing the right thing. It didn't have to be this bad. What a different world we would have if "Alternative Facts and Fake News" wasn't the buzz words of the time. Like her or not Hillary was right about everything.....they were and are DEPLORABLES....#politics
