The university warned us against going to this area of #Athens (Exarchia). We went anyway.
Urban decay; the dispossessed, the poor, those in need, legal and illegal migrants, those who protest, those who help, along with many buildings falling down, a booming food scene, Banksy art here and there, along with radicals, food kitchens, the anti-establishment.
I 100% felt safe the entire time.
I love this city more every day.

I'm at the beginning of a month in Athens, learning research, how to write ethnographically.
I am feeling very discombobulated; haven't slept in 3 days. I feel things will get better in a day or two if I can only sleep.
