Mentioned a while back that I was trying out some Unity/C# stuff.

Basically set myself a project, to do a modern remake of Zarch/Virus/Lander. If you don't know it, I understand. I'm old.

Anyway, hit some roadblocks, took a break, here's what I got so far.

Looks pretty pants, but it's functional - what's there works and I've set it up to be easy to go back to and edit later

Apparently we're not supposed to wear hats but I managed a beanie for most of the day, along with a repeat of the jeans and hoody.

The plan is progressing nicely.

I've been temping in a school for the past few months. There is a "smart casual" dress code, but my aim is to slowly erode standards. Today, I got away with jeans and a hoody. Aiming to chip away bit by bit until people start rocking up in cargo shorts.

I was planning to do a curry Friday night, only I was so tired that I fell asleep without making dinner.

On the plus side, this means that the chicken I was marinading for a planned curry has had an extra night to achieve awesomeness. I'm about to experience that tonight 😁

The pay off is not yet set in stone so, cosonauts, please add your name to this , calling for the pay off to not be given.

Regardless of your personal feelings about Elon Musk, I think he absolutely deserves praise and credit for his technical genius.

The successful launch of the world's biggest firework is something that would simply be beyond the capability of most people.

It's been pointed out that this actually has serious implications for eg people living with an abusive partner who have a second phone that they need to keep hidden.

Today, for the very first time, I have tried PICKLING πŸ˜ƒ

And I also found out that bruised garlic turns BLUE around the bruised bits when boiled in apple cider vinegar! I'd have tried it sooner if I'd known, that's so cool

*there's been some progress

Forgive the typoes (typos? What's the plural of 'typo'?). Its a Friday night after a hard week, I'm working on my inebriation.

Oh, and texturing the landscape mesh.

Also, my landscape is currently infinite, which isn't ideal - really, it should be a finite space, and if you go off one side, you reappear at the opposite side.

And I suspect I should've used a terrain instead of a plane, to make texturing, and detail scattering easier.

But, I figure I can go back and change these things once it all feels a little more cohesive (and once I've got a bit more of a clue as to what I'm doing).

So, latest update on my C# and learning project, 'cos that's been done progress but in small bits that I've not bothered to post individually.

Recap : I'm trying to create a sort of remake.

So far, I have a procedurally generated landscape mesh, and a spaceship that rotates with mouse movement.

What I need: add thrusters, guns, enemies and a landing pad.

So the good news is my computer isn't going to melt, the bad news is that's because Blender just crashed

Been playing around with for a thing and I've just applied procedural snow to a landscape mesh.

10 minutes later, I'm starting to think it was a bad idea 😬

I find this interesting.

Obviously, he's lying about why he was arrested, but quite apart from that, it seems odd to hear a priest characterise prayer as simply "the thoughts they've got in their own mind".

Either prayer is just your own thoughts, or it has an actual effect, in which case it's an action that you should be held responsible for like any other action. I don't see how you can have it both ways.
