@stueytheround lol, what was I on about, "midnight", it's well past 2am 😁 - I've set a reminder for Monday afternoon

@DyDave Call it Irish-Australian fusion cuisine, that's probably money to be made there 😁

@Magnetron1 The Netherlands thing wasn't a "pogrom", by any stretch.

Maccabi fans fucked around, locals ensured they found out.

For sure, there were antisemitic comments made, but you've been posting about the incident in a decidedly partisan way, like the Maccabi fans were complete innocents, despite others having given you the wider context.

Anyone here halfway decent at singing and fancies recording themselves singing along to stuff played by someone who can't sing for shit?

@DyDave Dave.

We need to talk.

Starting with the question, are those sliced jalapeΓ±os in the jar on the right?

@kukuberra If it helps, a big part of it for me was just realising I didn't really have anything to lose by applying - if there's someone more qualified, so be it, hopefully they can do more good in the position than myself πŸ™‚

@arthurpendragon that clip cracked me up first time I saw it, it's a nice one to be reminded of once in a while πŸ™‚

Just saw a thing about and sorry, I got commitment issues over that, but here's one of my favourite illustrators ever:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur

First came across his work around 30 years ago in a shop somewhere around Charing Cross Road that had a stand full of postcards outside.

@arthurpendragon Not a parent, but I work with teenagers, fwiw.

It's a good point. It needs challenging, but it's not always safe for those on the receiving end to do so at the time. Very situational, I think.

Prioritise safety. That's like the Prime Directive.

First step, imo, try and remove yourself from a situation you feel unsafe in, then report to the school and police.

Recording evidence, verbal/physical comebacks are cool, but safety takes precedence.

Revenge can always come later πŸ˜‰

@misslovelymess thank you! Clicked send on it, it's all in the hands of admin, HR and the Good Lord* now πŸ™‚

*being an atheist probably doesn't help, lol

@Tee_Lynn @GhostsOfWar50 @publickovacs yeah, sorry, didn't mean to imply that was a thing you said - I didn't read what you posted as such πŸ™‚

@tyghebright @sentientdessert @Qbae because they're not debating in good faith. 'Debate' is just the framing they use to market their own beliefs.

Just applied for a job.

Which probably doesn't sound like a big deal, but it kinda was for me, 'cos I've recently realised I've got a bit of Imposter Syndrome going on. Not like I'm famous or anything, but I just felt like I don't know enough to apply for certain jobs in my field, despite literally decades of experience.

Today was my "Fuck It" moment. While I didn't disclose *everything* in my application (some of you who follow me will know what I mean), it still feels like fairly big step.

What advice / directives are parents giving their daughters when approached with the "your body, my choice" comments in school? in public? alone? in a group?

Verbal comebacks are not always the safest choice, I don't think.

Saw this on Facebook

If you want/need to get married before 2025 in the Eastern PA and NJ area near Philly - I will do it for free. If you live elsewhere I will find someone to do your wedding.
