Man dies in police shooting after Farmington traffic stop
Thread update: How many sovereign citizen clues does it take for the newspaper and cops to conclude that the guy was a sovereign?
Farmington police shooting of 25-year-old draws attention to ‘sovereign citizen’ movement, though any connection is unclear

They've released the body cam footage. 100% sovcit gibberish.
Warning: graphic video
@jjmacnab She appears to be a realtor under a rather large corporation. She's going to embarrass them, I suspect, with these claims.
@jjmacnab According toa statement by the family the engine was still running on his car after the shooting. The guy refused to even do that much. Which is of course a safety issue for police because he's seconds away from running someone over like that.
The only surprise I'm taking away from this entire story is that apparently some states issue "Sovereign Citizen" license plates.
@Tarnagh No states issue such plates. You can only buy them online from charlatans.
Thanks for the clarification! I wondered about that because it didn't seem to make any sense.
@jjmacnab if they’re not citizens with the responsibilities of being one they should be expelled. No rights without responsibility!
@jjmacnab I am both horrified and fascinated by the video. I've seen short clips of Sovereign Citizen babble, but never that extended.
Yikes.
And thank you.
@jjmacnab watched the video before I saw the original post. My first thought was that he is a sovereign citizen and whoever chose to tell him he could get away with this crap is partly to blame for his death. Having said that, the number of shots fired and the manner in which they were seems a bit disjointed and excessive.
@jjmacnab I'm guessing there's an equivalent to having a swastika tattooed on your forehead, cause that's what it takes for them to call someone a white supremacist.
@jjmacnab They knew. There were 5 police involved. I'm sure they're very aware of this family.
@jjmacnab I'm sure she's angry and in pain at the loss of her son but as a not-citizen should she be able to use our judicial system like this? 🙄
@jjmacnab F'n paper platers! (My usual expression of disgust for sovereign citizens)
It looks like this version, which is fairly common in the SovCit movement.
