Let's say you get to build a new planet.

Did you know that was a common thought experiment in other centuries?

When most people learned how big the universe was, they assumed it was full of life, or that other planets were waiting for Earthly overflow.

So join your ancestors in the game!

You get to build yourself a planet to live on.

Now I'm assuming it'll be known for peace, after life on this stinker... ๐Ÿค”

But what's the *second* best thing your world will be known for? ๐Ÿ‘€

@MLClark security. Basic needs met, food, clothes, shelter, medical care.

@Cryspeg

Oooh! Some might argue that those are preconditions to peace, but I agree that you can't risk a monkey's paw scenario, where your world has "peace" but only at some terrible, twisted cost. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป Love that you've covered your bases. I'd visit for sure!

@MLClark The best art, writing, music, artisanship, and food in the known galaxy. It will be a world of artisans.

Because somebody's gotta do it.

@ianthealy

Bacchanal-Ian, they'll call it! ๐Ÿฅณ Where the good times and great art always flow!

@MLClark I'm not calling it that. My world, I get to name it.

Planet McPlanetface

@ianthealy

๐Ÿ˜… Nah, nah, if it's filled with writers it needs something more like

Planet McPlanetface FINAL Version (1) (1) Agent_3rdEDIT COMPLETE_2

@MLClark

Universal prize for the โ€œInstitute for Humanities and Scienceโ€. A place of study where these two are NOT separated, but flourish by supporting each other.

And training base for the โ€œEnvironmental Rescue Service.โ€

@corlin

Oh, I love that your planet celebrates the spirit of continuing education and growth in service. No resting on past laurels there!

@MLClark

Well. Lets see.
Learning and Service....
Anything else we humans should be doing ?

@MLClark

beauty, natural and humanly produced. everything a joy to behold.

@holon42

Every moment a gift to witness. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š Perfect.

@MLClark *Everyone* is sexy AF and understands the concept of enthusiastic consent.

@MLClark Lol, I hate when that happens!!! Happened to Archer when he wanted to get some light reading done as well. @elmaxx @stueytheround

@MLClark Most things are the same, I like it here! But people's frontal lobes develop faster so there's less angst and problematic decision making among young people, and eyesight is no longer a differentiatorโ€”with the exception of mutations, everyone's eyesight stays 20/10 for all their lives. Oh and we can see a little more into the energy spectrum, so our vision includes "chords" of light and our night vision is much better. That's it! Carry on, Planet Kurtopia!

@pr10n

Holy heck, a world with faster-developing frontal lobes and better visibility? You'd cut down on most accidents and hot-blooded trauma in a heartbeat. Now that's some splendid Kurtopian thinking! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

@MLClark Sadly, my changes would probably "improve" our predatory natures

@pr10n @MLClark I would love to visit Kurtopia!

I've often thought it would be useful for humans if their frontal lobes grew in a little earlier, and they lost their amygdala around the time that people currently have their temporal lobes grow in.

@AskTheDevil @MLClark Agreed! Haha, for example, student debt would be a much smaller problem if people could make that decision when their brains were at full speed.

@WordsmithFL

๐Ÿคฃ Someone is *definitely* thinking about their interplanetary Yelp reviews.

@WordsmithFL

Reminds me of an SF story. :)

Man shoveling manure grumbles. "This isn't where I belong."

Time portal opens. Time inspector pops out. "Multiverse preserve us, you're right! Quickly now, come with me, back to your real dimension."

The man is relieved. He always knew!

They pop off to a fantasy realm. Castle in the distance. Magical creatures a-twitter.

The time inspector hands him a shovel.

"There now, much better."

And he leaves the man to his new home, still shoveling shit.

@MLClark A similar gag was used in this comic strip that was published around the time "Tomorrowland" premiered in theatres.

Art. Everywhere. Accessible to anyone and no โ€œmuseumsโ€. The world not just decorated by it but built from it. @MLClark

@MLClark

Respect for the natural resources of the planet need to be taught from a young age. No clear-cutting or burning of forests. No polluting the water, air, soil. If a damn must be built, it must not damage the ecosystem or cause people to lose their homes. Learn how to grow oneโ€™s own food so as to learn how to listen to the planet.
