One thing that can happen to authors across the publishing landscape is that they can feel a deep "low" after finishing a project, or around a launch.

It happens for folks who land a book with a major publisher, a small press, or an indie.

I now have two books out in the world. I moved countries and hustled hard to be able to write them at all. I've finished what I wanted to do.

Tomorrow, life goes on!

I have to reflect on what comes next for *me*, though.

It's been a journey and a half.

@MLClark

I am so impressed with your tenacity, skill, and sophistication of thought--

I hope and believe your success will continue through the next stage of your journey <3

@Minholkin Thank you, Minholkin. These words, and your presence with them, are a gift. May your own journey keep and reward you well. 💙

@MLClark

Offered with utmost sincerity--I think, if I didn't spend so much time working, I would grow quite a bit following along with your writing more deeply.

<3

I am grateful for what I do gain.

@MLClark

Here is a cheer-up, I bought and downloaded "Children of Doro", just today. Will begin reading in near future.

@corlin

Oh, Corlin, you have done me the great kindness many times over of being present with the work.

Thank you so much for that generosity; it is a deeply affirming thing. I hope there is pleasure in the reading for you. Warmest wishes, either way.

@MLClark I'm very familiar with this. I actively work to avoid it by planning my next book while finishing the current one. It's like a relay race, with the creative process the baton. As the first runner (current WIP) wraps up their lap, the next one is already moving, ready to accept the baton.

@ianthealy 100%. I went back to my next MS at the start of this week for just that reason. Very much trying to keep my mind on Thucydides-in-space now that Dostoevsky-in-space is up.

It's a solid strategy. Super glad to hear it's worked so well for you. 👌

@MLClark Anthony Trollope used to just start the next story he was working on if he finished a book during his day's work....

@joycereynoldsward Indeed he did! One has to make the most of those commutes. :)

@MLClark postpartum depression? it's good to have something else on the go to fill the void.
