One thing that can happen to authors across the publishing landscape is that they can feel a deep "low" after finishing a project, or around a launch.

It happens for folks who land a book with a major publisher, a small press, or an indie.

I now have two books out in the world. I moved countries and hustled hard to be able to write them at all. I've finished what I wanted to do.

Tomorrow, life goes on!

I have to reflect on what comes next for *me*, though.

It's been a journey and a half.

@MLClark I'm very familiar with this. I actively work to avoid it by planning my next book while finishing the current one. It's like a relay race, with the creative process the baton. As the first runner (current WIP) wraps up their lap, the next one is already moving, ready to accept the baton.

@ianthealy 100%. I went back to my next MS at the start of this week for just that reason. Very much trying to keep my mind on Thucydides-in-space now that Dostoevsky-in-space is up.

It's a solid strategy. Super glad to hear it's worked so well for you. 👌
