Part of my day from hell.

"sHe'S nOT mATTeD"

Almost 4 hours. I saved her head, ears and tail, so she wasn't totally naked. Gave her a 4hour time window. Said 1pm. She came back after an hour and a half. Then again at 12:30, threw huge attitude, was ungrateful for everything and didn't tip. I'm so glad I was able to provide relief for the dog, but folks like that...not a fan. The last time she came was 5/2023 & dog was in same condition, plus fleas. Coworker had pics. Sigh.

@JeSsA Poor baby! She's such a cutie, too. I'm sorry that happened to you. Rude!

@janallmac 💜💜 thank you. Dog's mom was something else. Came in with a picture of the dog on a Christmas ornament telling me she wanted her haircut like that I felt on her dog and told her she was mad and she was going to be short today and that started the issues with this woman, fighting me saying she wasn't, until my coworker pointed out to her as well, then she agreed and left the dog and then, apparently, because she didn't get her back on her terms and time frame she decided to be a bitch

@JeSsA

What a mess. I’m sorry you got stuck with this poor animal.

@LnzyHou I felt that way when she walked in. I was livid. By the end, I found s myself just grateful I was able to give relief to a little being who deserves so much more.

This is why we groomers burn out. It's physically, mentally and emotionally draining.

@JeSsA thank you for helping the doggo who has such an ungrateful human to live with

@Astro_yyz 💜dogs are what I love most. This one broke my heart. Caked on feces and urine, matting so tight her skin was bruised. Stinking of cigarettes and so dirty both my hands and equipment were sticky and slick with filth. Being able to help give that dog relief, even when she was biting, not wanting to be groomed, made me feel better. No matter what an ass her mom was. Just wish people like this faced consequences.

@JeSsA ikk. some people don’t deserve dogs- I agree about the consequences part …. Thank you for helping ✨❤️

@JeSsA that’s so sad for the dog! She’s just a nasty person who probably treats everyone everywhere rotten like that. Sorry you experienced her!

@JeSsA I always feel bad for Cassidy when I bring her to the groomer's and they tell me she's matted... I'm like I try but I get like 5 seconds of brushing before I get the shit bit out of me... better now that she's medicated for her anxiety but still she's not letting me brush her fully.

@Brisse @JeSsA
Have you considered a stainless steel comb?
Tucker hated the slicker brush... Too hard on his skin... But the comb is much gentler...

@Brisse muzzles are amazing. They have learned biting get them out of things they don't like. I call that spoiled dog syndrome. They need to be taught no, boundaries, and that bad behaviors aren't rewarded. I go gently & slowly, if they try biting, I give them one correction & continue. They try biting again, they get correction & muzzle. Some resort to pee &pooping to show their dismay, again I just clean it up and keep going. They learn, and if they don't, the process keeps getting repeated

@JeSsA I mean she did the same with everything prior to medication... trying to put the leash/collar/anything on her was a nightmare. Now she's on prozac and I can put the leash on her and she's exited about it, so I'm hoping the brushing gets easier. I'm also tempted to try a sensitive skin brush I saw at the pet store... it looked more like a human hairbrush with the little plastic beads on the ends...

@Brisse has always been like this from puppyhood? Or did you rescue older? The boundary testing definitely begins very young,including with their mothers. The screaming, first, when not liking something, and then they'll add biting to their protest. When the action is rewarded, it sets the pattern of behavior. Add in natural anxiety or unstable temperaments and it becomes a whole thing.

Those dogs do become hard to manage. I get why folks struggle.💜

@JeSsA always from puppyhood. Vet said she's just a high anxiety breed... Llhasa Apso... and that's probably why. I take her to the vet to get groomed and they don't even muzzle her for grooming and say she's a perfect angel every time but they muzzle her for the actual vet visit.

@Brisse so she's good for groomers, but bad for you, for brushing? That's definitely a learned behavior then

@JeSsA well not ALL groomer's just the vet one. The other one... she went bullshit on and we were told never to come back.

@JeSsA vet was like "well we have a groomer here, and if she tries that here we'll just ask you if we can sedate her." and then it wasn't an issue... so I have no idea what happened at the first groomer's but I have a feeling that's when it started because she was just a puppy then... and she used to not have the same issues with the leash/harness/collar anything.

@Brisse you're definitely not alone. Big hugs. I can tell you, a groomers job is not easy, and it doesn't get any easier having to train someone's dog for them on top of doing our job. Some dogs know how to walk all over their owners. It's just how it is common some are very very smart and pick up on those bad habits getting them what they want
