Writing a self-eval for work performance reviews.
I fecking LOATHE self-evals.
Yeah. For the lazy manager. My next to last job ALWAYS took your self-review and downgraded it. Always.
It was like “fuck, I should just say I’m the fucking second coming because y’all will just lie anyway”.
@feloneouscat Yeah. I don't even know if our actual manager will be doing them this year. In fact my team doesn't even know if our manager is in fact still our manager, or what happened to them.
@feloneouscat So someone who doesn't really know me & the team will likely be doing our reviews. SO helpful, that.
That’s just wrong.
I worked for 45 years and I’ve seen mangament go downhill. You USED to get cost of living raises.
Now that isn’t even though of. It’s like whatever you were hired in at was your forever-salary.
And I’m an engineer. So bizarre.
@feloneouscat Yeah we get "merit" increases at ever performance evaluation. How much we get varies by how we score - "solid performer" gets less than "lead performer", etc. But they're not really merit increases at all, because only the highest level - "top performer" - gets what amounts to a COL increase.
Yeah, good reason to look elsewhere.
@feloneouscat Yeah. I'm totally burned out, too. On partial LOA right now dealing with... stuff. I love my team & I love my work & I'm just about DONE with my employer.
@Impious_Jade me too. Reminds me j have to do that soonish.
If it's optional, don't do it. Just do a bullet list of accomplishments to discuss if you feel like it.
I emphasize optional with all my folks - it's your manager's job, not yours.
Obviously, ignore this if it's an expectation in your company, but free yourself otherwise.
I'm putting some basic corporatese bullshit, honestly. It seems pointless to fill these out when it doesn't really change anything.
