I still miss velcro sneakers. I also miss the days when having velcro sneakers was considered cool.
I collect Converse High Tops. Wearing them was no problem when I was younger, but these days when I bend over to lace them up, velcro would def be cool. π€£
@BrazenlyLiberal @GaryPoole All Stars felt like slippers in my teens, but in old age it's clear they never were. Velcro makes sense for ease of wear, but I don't think it was ever "cool" except maybe to healthcare workers charged with assisting patients.
They still feel great once they're on. And All Stars are absolutely cool in all circumstances no matter how they close. I'm taking a stand on this one and I'm taking it in these:
@BrazenlyLiberal @GaryPoole I love em but I can't wear them, same with Van's they hurt me.
I'm sorry to hear that. Genuinely.
@BrazenlyLiberal @MidnightRider @GaryPoole I need lots of padding or something these days.
@BrazenlyLiberal @GaryPoole It's way worse than that but everyone will discover it themselves as they age, I'm not going to be like every old patient I had and make a list! π
@MidnightRider They were totally cool for about three months in the summer of 1982, if memory serves. π
@GaryPoole The Armitron digital watch theorem.
As I recall, Velcro sneakers were used by parents who didn't want to waste time tying their kids shoes.
Those same kids became teenagers who started a trend of walking around with untied sneakers.
Not as a fashion statement, mind you, it was simply because they didn't know how to tie their shoelaces.

@GaryPoole they're gone? Oh no!
@GaryPoole They were cool? Where was that? The nursing home or a parallel universe?
