I had a hankering for some steel cut Irish oatmeal this morning but was feeling lazy and decided to try out the microwave instructions. Now, instead of having to clean an extra pot, I have to clean my entire microwave.

Live and learn, I guess

@CarrieLikesCoffee BTDT. And yet, I try again, with the same results. Need to just do it the old fashioned way - lol!

@BlueStateBabe To be fair, the instructions said "use a tall bowl" so I had some warning. I just didn't think it had to be THAT tall

I will definitely forget this lesson and try again Lol

@gemswinc Like, I just wanted a single bowl of oatmeal with no hassles. Is that so much to ask?

@CarrieLikesCoffee
Never thought of using Chef Mic for steel cut oats. I think it would take as long. I have a nearly dedicated small one quart pan, calphalon, $4 from the thrift store. I put some water from the kettle in after making coffee, sprinkle some steel cut let it simmer for maybe 5? minutes. Never understood the 15 minutes or so heck even trader Joe's quick steel cut oats want you to boil it for 8 minutes.

What do you folks put in your oatmeal?
