We in Colorado could go ahead and do a buyback of AR-15 and similar, and require license, insurance, training, locked independent storage at ranges, etc. for any who want to retain their weapons. Let Colorado lead based on the Australia model. We have veto proof House, Senate, State Governor, AG, SoS, Treasurer's offices.
So I'm in Columbia. Forgot my debit card in the machine. It ate it. Now I have to rely on credit card for a cash advance, and I f'd up my pin 3 times. I called the bank to fix it. The AI answering process couldn't understand a word I said but eventually said "okay, we're sending a new pin to your house in by snailmail." I neither asked for nor authorized this. After 24 hours of panic and five calls to Citibank. I got a friend to send me money by Western Union. "At any WU office."
Nope.
MaΓ±ana.
Got dropped in Viejo San Juan about 4pm ayer. Walked up to La Verguenza 4 beers. Saw an old local acquaintance, met a new one who lives near the airport and offered crash space when needed. I offered my place on the west coast. We both like travel. Maybe visit Peru together someday.
Walked to El Batey - oldest bar in OSJ. Met 2 new old friends. A couple. In love. With each other and PR. I told them I'd marry them when time came, and offered my place for their next trip. Hugged farewell.
Good.
I can't say I blame #TFG. Weβve spend over 200 years trying to prove to the world that democracy is the way to govern, and then one know nothing ignoramus and racist demagogue comes along and convinces the masses of people to give up on democracy for a fascist dictatorship.
Welp, I tried out the expensive 3/4 horse that I thought would be marginal, and I was right. Then went and got the 1 HP blue bomb and it will work to get to the top of the hill, but still going to have to put in a 1/2 HP version of the blue one at the top to boost enough pressure for the house. Both together will be cheaper than the $500 automagical that was recommended to her. I'm calling it a win. Will deal with a housing, the 2nd pump, and fine tuning when I get back from Colombia next week π¦
good morning and good day all. Off to install a booster pump at a friend's place. She's been without water for 2 mo. Well died apparently. I'll look at it later, but for now got city H2O to the house but only 15 PSI at the bottom of the hill. Need it 50 ft higher and so, here we go. A $500 pump to install and test out today b4 rains come at 11.

12 hr day so far, probably have another hour or 2 in me after a beer and some food. Removed cheap old dining room flooring, (saving for temp reuse upstairs), final set on base cabinets and dishwasher. Fitment of beadboard panels, ready for glue and nail after kitchen floor install, which is 1st thing in a.m. after coffee, just have to final sweep, vac, lay foam, and land the ez 2/3 of the kitchen. Then on to the dining room after moving the fridge and stove cabs back to K -- I hope. π¨πͺπͺ
Today I drove 4 hours round trip to Denver to pick up flooring for my project that was supposed to arrive here today but they dropped it at the wrong warehouse, in the wrong city.
I told the sales guy to find a hot shot to pick it up and to bring it to me, but he couldn't. So I told him I was going to pack charge him $500 to go get it with my trailer.
When I got home and took a closer look I found it's not even the right material.
I'm less than happy.
Really really less than happy.

Today my El Salvadoran labor showed up looking for work. I put him on reinforcing the chimney in the basement - had to chase cement, mesh, rebar & build forms this morning. Only got half a day in on repairing my cabinets but should be able to final them tomorrow and land the countertop. Also cleaned out my trailer and truck to reorganize all my crap from the last project I threw in the trlr B4 off to PR last time. I have way much to do in too short of time to do it but I will make it happen. π
According to prelim information, there is really no reason for me to be there. No archaeology known or expected. Minimum environmental issues. So I'm going to occupy a vehicle 6 days inspecting a mile or so R.O.W. with almost no duties but filling out a no impact noted report, and time sheet.
This is going to be a struggle to maintain sanity. Depends if I can work/study other things in my truck for much of the day, or if I'm expected to "lean on a shovel" all day.
