I honestly don't know any of her songs, and am not sure I'd recognize her if I did, @voltronic
Therefore, no vote for me.😉
@voltronic I wasn't a big fan until for a brief moment I truly believed swiftonsecurity was her, but then I found out she wasn't, but it was too late and I'd already started listening to her music and was hooked 😆
Much like Dolly and Bey, I expect Tay will have the last laugh. Woman has been in the music industry for 20 years, she's hardly the flash in the pan pop star everyone just discovered.
And, man, can she write a hook.
@voltronic for me her music is like easy readable book...you like it, you read it and that's it...
I admire her, but her music isn't for me. It's not bad, but I tune it out or turn it off when it's playing.
I acknowledge she is am amazing artist, has incredible talent, writes really good songs, and has an overwhelming and incredible following
just not my music.
@voltronic she is the queen of a younger generation. For better or for worse. And I’m in the camp of worse.
@voltronic What I would say is that, for good or meh, she is to my teenage daughter what Carole King and Janis Ian were to me at her age... and yes, I'm older than most mums of teenagers... https://youtu.be/VMUz2TNMvL0
@voltronic I'm not a Swiftie, either. I don't have the deeper understanding of music that you do ( or of people for that matter); but, she just doesn't resonate with me.
@voltronic
I think she's a very good song writer
So my take on her is that I love that she's sticking it to the big record labels and think she's generally a good person. But I've never been much of a fan of her music, and most of her recent stuff is kind of the same thematic formula of getting drunk after breakups. She's one of many musicians people gush over without justification (IMO), but she is certainly better than the crap on the top Spotify streams or Billboard Hot 100.
