Ok, I'm going to stop peppering Render with questions even though he is being extremely gracious (as usual) in answering all of them.
I'd like to take this opportunity to point out we are getting spin-free reporting and analysis on the events unfolding tonight faster than most other places, and we don't have to question the accuracy of what we're reading.
Ren, I know you are built for moments like these, but I just want you to know how much you're appreciated. 👊
@voltronic @Render
Same 🥰🥰🥰
Please, both of you, don't stop asking.
@Render
Just wanted to give you a breather, bud. But since you prompted:
Clearly Prigozhin had more of a plan than I was giving him credit for. But this post just made by Alex Vindman is a bit worrying. When he mentions strategic assets here, is he referring to just C&C, or actual weapon stockpiles?
@voltronic He is talking about *those* strategic assets.
But I don't think that SMD holds or controls those.
@Render
Then that's quite a bold thing of him to say. He's almost implying that Rostov is like a mini STRATCOM.
@voltronic I asked somebody who knows better than I do.
There are strategic weapons depots in the Southern Military district (SMD).
SMD does not control them.
They belong to the Strategic Rocket Forces or the Air Force and are outside of the Russian army chain of command.
@voltronic Seconded
