Yay, I'm finally about to see bee balm flowers :). This is the largest one of seed I planted a couple of years ago, it was mixed colors. Doesn't look like they will be very dark. That year the guys threw stuff in my garden, thinking nothing was growing, and didn't seem to understand what I was saying when I started wailing about "baby perennials", but I got more in the next year, so hopefully I'll have some variety in color eventually.
I know you've been dying to know, so sphagnum moss is florescent, bladderwort is not. There. Now you can rest easy. (One of these days I'll get over the neon/velvet artwork influences surrounding me in my early childhood, today is not that day.)

I have NO idea why these Skunk kits were crossing the access road into Huffman Prairie in broad daylight. But here they are. And this is just 3 of the 9 of them. There was no adult skunk in sight. And they were all chattering at one another!

The Kermit teaches us that, even when it's in your nature to sit in the swamp playing your banjo, you can be forgiven for getting bamboozled now and then when you really do believe you can make millions of people happy.
Omgs y'all my kid keeps being all "I'm gonna fight that!" And I can't get her to stop in part because of Joe and my BIL being very "tough" because of the way they were raised, and Joe encourages her "fighting spirit". So I just explained to six year old what social Darwinism is and where the flaws came from, complete with hummingbird/flower illustrations for what he meant with "fittest", and how wolves in zoos aren't wolves in the wild, and the "alpha male" phenomenon. I'm EXHAUSTED.

Hubby found a half-hatched swallow egg under one of our nests in the barn. We were compelled to put it back as it was actively hatching in my hand - still alive. We think it was the last to hatch & was pushed out of nest as the others hatched. Everything deserves an extra chance.
