@LnzyHou And the eyebrows, lol. We really do love her, just can't handle yet another barking voice.
Oh, cool. So apparently, Elon not only plans to steal the last of the stars in the sky from our view, but also his incompetence is going to send junk falling down on us at random.
Not The New Dog got a bath and haircut, to help find her a home. We'll get better pics outside tomorrow and put her up on the web, maybe walk her around the neighborhood and see if anyone falls in love. What do you think, Schnauzer mix? She leapt right over a fence too high for even Romeo without even blinking, even though she's a low little sausage of a thing.
@allin @AskTheDevil I have people in my life in recovery too, it's everywhere.
@EnochianEntropy I never laughed at a customer, but I took customer complaint calls for two years (Hertz). I LOVED being super nice and sweet to the awful ones. The ones who were determined to yell until they got something for free. I'd put on my most charming voice, it's got those smoky whiskey notes and tends to get compliments, and be just as darling as I could manage as I told them no, and wished them the loveliest of days. Sent them through the roof. I didn't laugh until they hung up.
@AskTheDevil @allin I've lived in impoverished neighborhoods for so long, I always have Narcan, clove for dental emergencies, and ginger candy for people in withdrawal. Here at the trailer park I haven't had to hand anything out, but I used to have people come by for clove and ginger, sometimes it would be a friend who didn't need it but ran across someone who did.
To all queer youth with unsupportive family members this Pride:
I'm your mom now.
Wear what makes you feel good, even if only alone in front of a mirror. Clean your room, not because that's a mom thing, but because cleaning your space can improve mental health. Stay hydrated, eat good food, and remember to take your meds.
It won't always be like this. You aren't alone, and I'm here if you need to talk to someone supportive. I love you even if we've never met.
Love,
Dragon Mom
@AskTheDevil @thewebrecluse This is what knitting did for me. And art. It's all about wanting a thing. There's a huge desire to rush so you have it, but if you do so, you won't be happy with the results. You have to relax. to fall into it, to learn to enjoy the process. It has indeed spread into other areas of my life, to great benefit.
@DavidSalo Appreciation is like Jack Skellington as he sings, "What's this?" Appropriation is him trying to be Santa.
@DavidSalo Every human on Earth is descended from a very small pool of individuals that survived an extinction event.
Everyone is "blood family" to every other human being. We are all connected and all related.
