@sentientdessert @LiberalLibrarian The reason you don't hear much from the pragmatic anarchists (despite being the majority) outside of places like r/anarchism, is because we're not the ones being loud and demanding everything get burnt to the ground...
If you burn it to the ground, you have the risk of authoritarianism filling the power vacuum that you've just created. It's just not practical to be that extreme.

@sentientdessert @LiberalLibrarian The goal being a society that is no longer built to need police, military, government (or as little as truly necessary, if any)... But as it sits, society it's structured specifically to make those things necessary. The biggest problem facing people of my belief is the broad acceptance that all those things being necessary are just "good enough" without any desire to build a better, truly free society. Complacent and comfortable in an abusive relationship.

@sentientdessert @LiberalLibrarian The majority of (non-tankie) anarchists (such as myself) are what I call "pragmatic" where they know that a truly free society can't exist in the confines of how society itself is built now to exist. Straight removal of any functioning structure of current society would create a vacuum with people not knowing how to fill it.
The anarchist purpose should then be educating, affecting, and convincing society as a whole to pursue a goal... (1/2)

Spending the day editing VODs for my Twitch streamer, and calling it productive.

@Cr15ta83ll Despite it interesting me a lot and really being truly invested in that sort of subject matter, I hit a point where I think I didn't want that to be my life... Priorities. But the subject still interests me, far more than I'd like sometimes.

@Cr15ta83ll My major was social behavioral psychology... Mostly focusing on Offender Profiling, but also a lot with cults and serial killers. I didn't pursue a masters though. I kind of redirected my life... But it was at a Cal State University.

@Cr15ta83ll I initially wanted to "score" the Jonestown tape... Kind of to see if I could, while still staying honest to the emotional state of it all, not to make a mockery of it, but to highlight how things like that happen... I feel I succeeded...
Then Trump made his post-election speech that just happened to be around the same length, and I overlayed it, directing each to the L and R channels.... And the cadence and speech patterns, as well as manipulative language matched up a bit too well.

@Cr15ta83ll Theories are that a Dwyer (ex-CIA involved in brainwashing experiments, and later a Congressman) was involved, and that Jones was a CIA plant or operative in a "group brainwashing" (ie gaslighting) experiment with Jonestown... Dwyer is said by name in the Jonestown "death tapes" where Jim specifically demands he (Dwyer) be moved somewhere safe before everything comes down...
The similarities to how far you can manipulate a populace are a bit too exact and specific...

@Cr15ta83ll As someone who has studied Jonestown and similar as a science, you're both not wrong, but also not right.
Jim Jones and Tr*mp both speak at the same 130 bpm cadence and with the same manner of content... (I put Jones to music a few years ago and will be uploading my mixes of both him and him/Trmp soon to my YT)
The difference is that several of Jones' followers truly questioned and spoke up... They were murdered with crossbows or coerced consumption of the arsenic-laced Flavor-Aid.

@sentientdessert Their dub of Dark is insufferable... I've heard better anime English dubs.

@Museek she looks exhausted. Must have been a really fun day!

It might be because I was showing my older sister the first 5 seasons of while season 6 aired, only for her to catch up with season 6 by the finale, but season 6 is my favorite season.

Saw a clip of TFG's white nationalist rally... I'm guessing everyone holding up one finger in salute is only because it would be too obvious to hold up all 4?? We already know you're Nazis, no sense in trying to mask it anymore.

@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine That might help! I'm gonna check if there's a Roku app, or possibly even a subscription through Amazon Prime I can activate to watch.

I'm so chaotic evil, I like to recommend S. Darko (the sequel to Donnie Darko) to fans of Donnie Darko, and insist that it's even better.

@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine Do you know if there will be anywhere to stream this? I don't have PBS... Or any live TV.

It also lifted that weight off of him, so later he could be ready to *accept* the role of leader, instead of it just being thrust upon him. It was by choice and not a sense of duty.

The season 5 scene of where Jack's wondering why Sawyer is just "reading a book" and Sawyer asks him if it's a relief knowing that he doesn't have to make decisions anymore... One of my favorite scenes of this show. The carefree Jack that follows is the Jack I actually like.

@Tomfoolerya My favorite Todd Barry bit was about the guy from Nickelback on MTV's Cribs, showing off a guitar and saying "This is my favorite guitar, because with this guitar, the songs write themselves."

Todd: "Sure... Blame the guitar."

@chaos440 The anime series was pretty good too! I'll gladly accept more Blade Runner content.
