My dad is literally going through the exact same thing (diagnosed a couple of months ago). Catching it early really helps. He has started his meds, few months of that before the other treatment starts.

I am so grateful for this cyberspace community because I know of no one in my meatspace social network who has had treatment or have parents who have faced Prostate cancer

One thing I'll pass on, that has been really helpful, is to see if you can get a doctor or nurse (the nurse did it for my dad) to refer your dad to the McMillan nurses organisation.

They have been fantastic, answered all his questions, got him in touch with other guys going through it. Been such a steady base for him to understand the diagnosis and everything 👍🏻

@MichaelRLaverty in the brief phone call i had, My parents have received a mountain of information, which my Mum has said might be a tomorrow or next week navigation exercise.

@Mauve_matelot it'll be an adjustment (has been for me), but the more I've found out, helps with the old optimism.

I have nothing but good thoughts for you all 🙂

He is well into his hormone treatment, his prostate levels have went from 8.8 to 0.8, so they are working.

He's due up to see the specialist again shortly, he has to get another wee surgical procedure, and then hopefully onto the radium treatment.

Apart from that, he's doing ok. Thanks for asking 🙂

So I have a bit more news on Dad and the treatment, no date yet for the bone scan, it's only been 4 days, but as it's Prostate cancer at 9.5 out of the scale of 10, they will fast track him.
Then the Oncology team plan 12 weeks of Hormone treatment before 4 weeks of daily Radiotherapy. The nearest hospital for the Radiotherapy is 30 miles from my hometown.
