I think it's that people are so used to "free" SM that they forget they're paying with their data and the targeted advertising that comes with it.
I wonder how the same folk would respond if unsolicited ads turned up in their coso home TLs???

I truly appreciate your transparency about this--I imagined the cost burden was heavy, but this made me sweat a little.
Going PRO is a way to distribute the cost across more CoSo participants and provides access to certain features that enhances the experience.
Without going PRO, folks still enjoy a platform free from bots and ads and with unparalleled security.
But going PRO helps defray the significant expense of the platform.
Either way, all of us, together, are CoSo.

@th3j35t3r I pay happily for ad free television, but even more I pay happily for ad free coso, where I actually LIKE the people. I don't have much in terms of funds, but factoring in how much time I spend here -a bargain! But I also understand thay some can't spare that.
I can only choose for myself, and ultimately it falls to the individual if they choose to pay for a service.
Ftr.....someone go ask another platform owner to do what J just did. They wont do it.
We all feel this is a community and it certainly is, but it's also a business venture with overhead and operational expenses. We must remember that when J setups these awesome features that he provides.
Also...I BELIEVE I'm right in saying that some of the 'PRO' proceeds are going specifically to a #CoSo App!!!

Honored I was invited prior to launch where 120 “CoSoNauts” greeted me with heartfelt “toots.”
Almost a year later, CoSo has grown exponentially & yet, drop in anytime, people are always welcoming.
CoSo peeps treat one another with respect & kindness; while allowing alternative viewpoints where sarcasm & humor is still understood. Also, #CoSoMusic is the bomb.
$10 is a small price to pay knowing I can get away from the madness.

But, besides loving the people and the platform, I need to visit more often because I discovered I'll save $5 a month by going Pro, which I did.😁
Enjoying a safe and ads-free space is truly priceless.
CoSo provides me with inspiration, fascination, entertainment, free-association of ideas, fun. As a community, CoSo belongs to all of us, and it is what we make it.
Since J has the talent, he does the amazing things.
Since I have the equivalent of 1 coffee/month, then I’m happily going Pro. It’s my humble share.

I would never normally do this but it seems pertinent to provide some context. Here is my datacenter bill for this month. This is just the primary server, not bandwidth, or the other services I need to cover per month, like Cloudflare, Amazon AWS, email transport, etc etc.
