Pastor TV host ponders what 'good guy' Hitler could've done with all that Christian nationalism..

@LnzyHou Better to have your ethics based upon the wellbeing of people than sin. It feels great not to have to search desperately for a bible quote like some lawyer looking to get his gay client off on a technicality. I can just ask myself whether an action contributes to the wellbeing of those affected.

@LnzyHou one of the joys of atheism is that I don't need to wrestle with the passages of the bible that condemn homosexuality as a sin. It's pretty clear about that. It's definitely a sin.

The difference is that I reject the concept of sin as a violation against God, since I have no good reason to believe that a god exists.

@LnzyHou unfortunately, the bible has too many examples that those men can cling to to justify their positions.

The bible is like a Rorschach ink blot test for those who need an external source for their ethics. It's far too easy to have it reflect what you want it to say.

When someone from an organization that seeks to "evangelize, equip and empower the next generation of Christlike men" says "The only people I want to see shot are the bad guys" I can't be the only person wondering if, in his eyes, I'll be one of them.

@Alfred, sorry to shit on your sleep old boi, but here's an old polaroid can you find me the location?

Why does Esther McVey always sound like she's just continually wiping dog shit off some Union Jack bunting?

I get the sense that this will require something rather more substantial than another round of crudely drawn NFT trading cards. 😆

Stop making plans.
Start living the rest of the only existence the evidence suggests we'll experience.

Tolerate less shit at work. You owe zero to the arseholes of this world.
Hug your loved ones more and cherish your time with them. Tomorrow is promised to none of us.

I'm putting down my phone now.
Why not do the same for a few hours?

Seems that everyone in KC were among the gunmen. All those good guys with guns. All of them good. Until suddenly not good. And then you're in a tightly packed crowd with a lot of armed people and they hear the shots. .
America needs to get over guns.

@GeorgeG true, but then my issue isn't with a large vocabulary. My issue is with words that are semantically overloaded to the point where their use causes misunderstanding rather than understanding.

Look, I get the distinction between descriptive and prescriptive dictionaries, but if words have any value that elevates them beyond mere mouth noises, it can only be their ability to transmit concepts from one person to another.

Words that are used to mean even subtly different things distort our ability to understand and be understood. That's important because it defeats the purpose of communicating.

Thankyou for coming to my TED talk.

s anything more than the sound it makes

While I don't think this is what's meant by climate justice, there's a certain poetry to watching the financial consequences of climate change start to bite for a state that still refuses to acknowledge it.

@mikeflstfi I also dispise TFG and I believe that if the SC sided with the lower courts and barred him from the ballot that Haley would be too tempting for many of the crucial independents and centrist democrats, likely resulting in a catastrophic outcome for the decarbonization of our economy.

That said, while this is going the way I want it to, I'm troubled that this is yet a plainly written constitution being self-servingly interpreted in a manner usually reserved to pastors with scripture.

This is a glorious little ditty on the absurdity of Trump's followers given his behavior.
