Heeelllooo CS world! Let's see how much absurdity I can get into here. 😚
My name is Susan or Sus (think Dr. Seus) & I'm a lowly servant to 2 feline monsters: Queen Maddie & Court Jester Smitty.
I used to be a pro photog but life's bumps had different plans for me. I still shoot as often as I can & post pics often.
Other stuff: I'm a fiery soul & speak my mind however I like about a million things.

@see_the_sus Yo Sus!

I also have two cats (Cami and Luna) who demand my attention, and a Yorkiepoo named Maggie, who lives with them in an often uneasy peace. They sometimes face off over squatting rights on my bed.

@BobSchadenfreude

Smitty, 3 1/2, is a rather rambunctious critter who drives Queen Mads bonkers. She's 13 1/2.

@see_the_sus Weirdly, all of my pets are 8. Even though I acquired them at different times.

@see_the_sus I love the look on the face of the cat on the left that cat just looks dignified the mustache kind of reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt

@duglop

Maddie is on the left and Smitty’s on the right. She’s the queen of the homestead. 😄

@see_the_sus
Welcome to CoSo, Sus. We could use a little of your rambunction here. Enjoy!

@see_the_sus Cool stuff. I was never a pro, only amateur photog but I'll pose (what to me was) an interesting question: why are all the words about photography violent? "shoot" "shot" "take" "grab" ... I enjoyed a short seminar with pro photos who suggested we "receive" and "are gifted with" images because it's a love language and should reflect that. Thoughts?

@wolfwoman

ummm.....to be honest, those choices are, ummm...gag inducing. IMO. I'm not going to go around telling people, "Oh I received some great flower photos today!" cause for one thing, that would denote someone gave me flowers. Same with the "are gifted with."
The words, "shoot," "shot," "take," and "grab" are only violent when used to describe a violent incident. It's no different than if I were to say, "He threw a punch at me," vs "He threw the frisbee to the dog."

*1/2*

@wolfwoman

I "shot" photos of flowers because I'm "pulling" the camera's shutter lever. I "grabbed" some photos of kids playing in the park because it's a quick moment in time.

We can go around the earth a gazillion times with these kinds of discussions. Sure, there are some words that indicate a violent act no matter how it's used but camera lingo isn't one of those.

@see_the_sus Thanks for your thoughtful and honest reply! I am really glad to have a different view of the act of "taking" photos, lol. Sometimes my inner nerd just has to follow things to their extreme. 🙃

@wolfwoman

Yer most welcome!

You'll find that I am, often, on the "TMI" level of honesty, though age has helped me see the merits of tact. 😁

I'm curious when this seminar was where the photographer was advocating we no longer talk about shooting and taking. I'd wager a bet that some of the best conflict photogs would scoff at this.

@see_the_sus Full disclosure: a church retreat in 2018. I learned a lot of technical stuff that greatly helped my abilities.

@see_the_sus Well that explains why your photos of Maddie and Smitty are always so good.
