A Nevada judge has struck down the state’s limits on Medicaid coverage for abortion services, saying the restrictions violate equal rights protections.

Clark County District Judge Erika Ballou said that she planned to issue a written order directing the state Dept of HHS to grant Medicaid coverage for all abortions.
Currently, Nevada’s Medicaid program only covers abortions for pregnancies that are life-threatening or result from rape or incest.

Congressman Dan Kildee’s (D-Mich.) brother, Timothy Kildee, was killed in a Tuesday morning shooting, local law enforcement said.

The suspect in the case is Timothy Kildee’s son. The 27-year-old, who was not identified, sustained serious injuries and is currently recovering at Hurley Medical Center where he is watched by sheriff’s deputies.

March 17, 1896 ~ A Black man from Newark, New Jersey, Charles B. Brooks, invented the U.S.' first self-propelled street sweeper truck which was patented on this day.
Unlike other sweepers at that time, Brooks’ sweeper was the first self-propelled street sweeping truck. His design had revolving brushes attached to the front fender, and the brushes were interchangeable so that when snow fell, scrapers could be attached for snow removal.

Some returned home but the 639 who remained graduated, all ready for assignment.
