Boar’s Head expands recall to include 7 million more pounds of deli meats tied to listeria outbreak

It follows an earlier recall of more than 200,000 pounds of sliced deli poultry and meat. The new items include meat intended to be sliced at delis as well as some packaged meat and poultry products sold in stores.

They include liverwurst, ham, beef salami, bologna and other products made at the firm’s Jarratt, Virginia, plant.

Florida defies CDC

Oregon's first case of human plague in 8 years likely came from a pet cat

The person was likely infected by their pet cat, who had developed symptoms, according to Deschutes County Health Services.

Humans are commonly exposed to plague from the bites of fleas carrying Yersinia pestis, the bacterium that causes the disease. Household pets can get also infected if they hunt rodents infected with plague or are similarly bitten by an infected flea.
