Tufts University lacrosse players hospitalized for days after workout

Patrick Collins, executive director of media relations at Tufts University, said in a statement to NPR on Sunday that 12 players participated in a “voluntary, supervised 45-minute workout” on campus last week and have been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis. As of Friday, five players remain in the hospital, he also said.

At its Glowtime event on Monday, Apple announced that it’s adding a new Apple Watch feature that can alert users to sleep apnea, a health condition that causes you to stop breathing when you’re asleep. Apple says it expects to receive FDA clearance for the feature “very soon.”

A salmonella outbreak linked to recalled eggs sickens people in 9 states

The recalled eggs came from Milo’s Poultry Farms and were distributed to Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan, the CDC said.

People fell ill between May 23 and Aug. 10. Most of the illnesses are concentrated in Wisconsin and Illinois. People also reported illnesses in California, Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan and Virginia.

Researchers conducted preclinical experiments and found that oral administration of manuka honey significantly reduced tumor growth by 84% in mice with ER-positive breast cancer cell, without affecting healthy cells.
