@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I want to be you when I grow up!
@ReneeVoiceBrand Ah, never mind. I see it.
The move follows one by my former colleague Mariel Garza, who resigned on Wednesday from her position as the editorials editor at the Los Angeles Times in protest of a decision by Patrick Soon-Shiong, the publisher, to block the editorial boardโs plan to endorse Harris. The Times did not make presidential endorsements from 1976 through 2004 but resumed the practice in 2008 and endorsed Democrats in the past four elections.
โDonald Trump will celebrate this as an invitation to further intimidate the Postโs owner, Jeff Bezos (and other media owners). History will mark a disturbing chapter of spinelessness at an institution famed for courage.โ

@TrueBloodNet Or the ultra rich are taking away the opportunity to endorse? Your call.
Money quote: Martin Baron, who edited the Post from 2012 to 2021, winning wide acclaim for his leadership of the newsroom during the Trump presidency, issued a statement to NPR denouncing the last-minute decision to withhold an endorsement. โThis is cowardice, a moment of darkness that will leave democracy as a casualty,โ he said. 1/2
@Bix Alsoโฆ ProPublica is worth your consideration
@rpardee Thatโs a smart move.
@TrueBloodNet No presidential endorsement for the first time sinceโฆ 1988? They were going to endorse the VP, but Bezos killed it.
@ReneeVoiceBrand Any particular reasons we should know?
@Bix We vote every day with our money. Who are we really choosing? ๐ค

Columbia Journalism Review:
WashPost editorials page editor David Shipley OK'ed endorsement of Harris โ one week before publisher Will Lewis / Bezos killed it.

@Bix I miss Tom Nichols. Heโd be great here.
@kel Thatโs just lazy campaigning. ActBlue and NGP VAN know youโve voted. They should just know to stop.
@Bix It makes one wonder.
What other Congressional District polls also ask Presidential preference in swing districts?
FYI, this district - PA7 - was identified as a presidential bellwether by Larry Sabato , having voted for the Electoral College winner in the past four presidential elections as of 2020.
If sheโs up 3-4 there, Pennsylvania looks really good.
