Went down to the place today to check the trail cams, and found this. Surprise water well rig. Wasn’t expecting that, but it’s nice to see it there. #homebuilding

Finally, some good news with this Waltham pocket watch I’m working on. I sourced a new balance “hole” jewel and installed it. Rec arrow is pointing to it, and you can see the top of the balance staff pivot.

The old jewel was worn and the hole was too big, resulting in too much play and end-shake in the balance wheel.

I’ll add a new cap jewel on top, which will hold a tiny drop of oil to lubricate the pivot.

ICYMI I teased this next watch build a couple of weeks ago. I got the parts in today, so I hope I can get some pictures of the completed watch with the option of one of two different dials.

I may have to wait until I get back from visiting the kids, but again, keep an eye out. #watchmaking
