Finally, some good news with this Waltham pocket watch I’m working on. I sourced a new balance “hole” jewel and installed it. Rec arrow is pointing to it, and you can see the top of the balance staff pivot.

The old jewel was worn and the hole was too big, resulting in too much play and end-shake in the balance wheel.

I’ll add a new cap jewel on top, which will hold a tiny drop of oil to lubricate the pivot.
