what a great night catching up with friends. I miss seeing these people as often as I used to see them.

when I was laid off 4 months ago today, I packed away all my company clothing swag and put it deep in a closet. this morning, I pulled it all out and started reintroducing it to my wardrobe. I am proud of the work I did/that WE did, and the trauma of the layoff has healed somewhat. it helps I'm doing something special/fun now to help me move on. but I recognize that I'm fortunate. others are still grieving over their loss and have my sympathies.

one of my favorite lines from Tina Tina's Wonderlands. after a villain monologue, my character says, "I wake up and choose evil every day. Get on my level." I adore my character's attitude.

in a recent conversation, I described PR as getting people to the party and described marketing as making sure the people are happy when they get to the party. the description seemed to create understanding on why both are needed.

Pork can be a tricky meat to cook. Today’s pork is so lean and can dry out quickly if you don’t give them some help. Pounding down the thickness means quicker cook times, and a crunchy coating helps keep the chop stay moist.

Nighttime view. Light hits just a little differently. Still awesome view. ⛰️

Pasta goes so well with so many things. Different meats and vegetables get highlighted and given depth with the starchy goodness. And since pasta comes in so many shapes and sizes, you can customize nearly every meal to individual tastes.

The past couple of weeks have been a carousel on top of a roller coaster as they are building the entire festival around it.

how is that for imagery?

I'd like to say I miss this after moving to the PNW, but the quiet at night says otherwise.

starting the day with a discussion about how to create an army of undead. although doing it during the eclipse would have been a total boss move.

hemoglobin was too low to be able to donate blood today. making plans to eat like a T-Rex for the next couple of weeks before trying to donate again.

@wolfwoman they came in cans years ago. the ones in jars are supposed to be better. nothing meats homemade though.

As a kid, my grandmother would always have tamales whenever I would visit. Granted, her tamales came from a can, but I loved peeling away the paper and eating them – as many I could – without knowing how they were truly made. These days, I prefer my tamales in pie form. Just as delicious without the corn husks.

Next destination is in West Seattle. C&P Coffee Company sits inside a renovated home and is quite charming. Smooth latte. ☕️

When you go to a new BBQ place, what must be good for you to go back?

Pimento cheese soufflé smells great, tastes better, but deflates fast. Get that picture as soon as it comes out of the oven!

that was fast but not unexpected. the LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale set is on backorder. we nerds and geeks don't mess around when it comes to really cool stuff.

Look, I appreciate smokers and grills for ribs just as much as the next person. But there are limits to what temperatures I am willing to endure to stand outside next to the grill, especially when I can make something delicious by using my slow cooker.

I have signed so many NDAs lately that I feel like I could get top secret clearance now. explains why all my social media is about food over the past couple of weeks. I can't keep quiet about good food.
