As a kid, my grandmother would always have tamales whenever I would visit. Granted, her tamales came from a can, but I loved peeling away the paper and eating them – as many I could – without knowing how they were truly made. These days, I prefer my tamales in pie form. Just as delicious without the corn husks.

@lfrum I've never tried the canned ones - they're decent? I used to buy a dozen or two every year when I was still in CA. A few years later, I had a church sister in WA who graciously invited me to come learn in her kitchen, and we made about six dozen. Whew! Lots of work but fun. I may try on my own, this Dec.

@wolfwoman they came in cans years ago. the ones in jars are supposed to be better. nothing meats homemade though.
