Dali is a 10 year old ship. Container ships have a 20-30 year lifespan.
Maintenance is a separate conversation, but it was old enough it wasn't a lemon off the line and young enough it wasn't scrap material.

General statement because some of the comments are referencing the ship's pilot.
The ship was being piloted by a harbor pilot.
Harbor pilots work for the port authority. They specialize in navigating that particular port.
Things can still go wrong, because floating skyscrapers, but it means you can cross off lack of familiarity with the route.
fyi: if you see a news brief of something else that refers to the mv Dali striking the FSK Bridge as an "allision" that is actually the correct term.
At sea, a collision is when two moving objects strike each other, and an allision is when a moving object strikes an immovable object, like a bridge or a dock.
