@Marmel
Mine is to react to news events and opinions. Ukraine is the primary interest.

I try to keep my posts insightful.

If that fails, I try to exercise my snark.

Goal: No complaining nor bitterness

@WeThePeople
Maybe add something about the "Freedom" and "Privacy" and "government overreach" that FL legislators hold so dear?

@process
Never let credibility bleed past the expertise that generated it.

@ToriLRidgewood @Alt_Human

Disaster Management is a category that drones and VTOLs would be used. I met with FEMA, DOI reps, disaster-recovery experts and GIS experts to identify a sustainable business model.
None.
Only a government supported program would work. We're seeing the first-level of value from drones: Data collection.

To deliver supplies to a disaster zone requires a lot of physical and data infrastructure that has yet to be designed.

@th3j35t3r
There is a clear correlation between a lack of shame and the importance of your own reputation.

@Alt_Human
Just think of all of those rural dogs consuming your pharmaceutical delivery that was just dropped in your back yard. :-)
There are a lot of infrastructure and regulatory issues to be resolved before we see that form of logistics taking off. Hopefully I'll be helping make that happen.

@Alt_Human
The way advanced mobility (surface and aerial) will be used is in servicing segments of a logistics or delivery route. Not the whole route. Payloads need to be able to be passed between mobility systems in an automated manner.

I'm working on an essay on the topic.

@Alt_Human
I spent 18 months analyzing this and leading expert groups targeting medical delivery. I'm also getting patents in this space.

There is very little value beyond traditional transportation modes. It's a solution looking for a need to fill. There are very few needs it can fill and sustain a business.

And, there is a ton of investment required before this service scales.

@ATXJane
Thanks.
Navigating a death in the family is hard.
Nevertheless, it's something we all must face.

My mother in law has died today.
We expected it.
She fought to stay alive to the last minute.
This gives me a question regarding what is living...what is life.
We said goodbye to her last night.
Nobody would want to be in that condition.
We're born.
We live.
We die.

Live well.

Then die quickly or gracefully.

Don't stretch it out.

Mini-update.

Ukrainian army continues to increase their stranglehold on Lyman. Russian defenders now split into two pockets. Northern pocket around Drobysheve has no way out. Southern pocket around Lyman itself still has an exit to the east, but it's already under direct fire from both the north and south.

Further north, the Ukrainian bridgehead at Kupyansk continues to slowly expand over the bodies of wasted Russian conscripts.

...

@WeThePeople
Which is shocking on two levels:
1) She's married
2) Someone stayed married to her for > 1 min

@Render @AkomoCombine

Then why are we not hearing about "mass-refugees" instead of "Russians escaping conscription"?

Seem like if there is a protocol already in place it should be activated.
I think the world would revise their assessment of what is happening to these Russians.

To be clear, I'm not challenging your response. I'm just trying to make sense out of the ethical vectors swarming over this situation.

@AkomoCombine
What does the UN refugee protocols say about "Avoiding Conscription"?

BTW, my great grandfather was conscripted to fight in the Crimean War. He was Lithuanian.

Then, his son, my grandfather, was told by his mother to go to America because the Russians were coming back to do it again.

@BreakingNews

I got this from a SETI Zoom cast. Apparently someone had a ground-based telescope on the asteroid and this was the view after the moon got it. A cloud of debris!

@Alt_Human
"It took years for the Russian army to form the 144th GMRD—and just a few months for the Ukrainian army to erase it. The division is just one of several units the Russians might try to reconstitute with aging, unwell, unhappy draftees and very old tanks and fighting vehicles.

If the Russians succeed in restoring the 144th GMRD, the Ukrainians might get to destroy it again."
