@EvilBunny If he actually sentences Trump to something significant in a couple days, I'll consider the hero tag.
If he does the same "it would be really bad to have to jail a president" thing he did _during_ the trial, I won't be able to consider him anything but a yellow-bellied, cowardly, no-account, lily-livered, craven failure at duty who shat on the courage of 12 jurors who will have to live the rest of their lives in danger.
In the 1930s the billionaire class tried to get Smedley Butler to lead the Bonus Army in revolt against the lawful government of the USA. FDR was president then.
The trust-fund class are trying to overthrow the government again.

A lot of people wonder why the wealthy work so hard to accumulate so much wealth, even long after they have so much they could not possibly spend it all, and where it no longer gives additional benefit to them.
It's not because they need more and more, necessarily.
It's so that everyone else will have _less_. It is so the pie will be smaller, and they'll control more of it, the rest of us cannot have power of our own.
It's not about creating wealth, it's about creating scarcity.
The conservative argument, that the only crime that is down is what is actually being reported to police is nonsense because the GOP are more likely to be involved with crime than any other group in this country. Experience has shown that funneling money & power to the GOP only makes crime go up. Look at Trump. Look at the Reagan era. Look at the MAGA mob storming of the Capitol on 1/6.

โEight Republican senators are vowing to vote against any spending bills, judicial nominees or other Democratic legislation brought to the floor in protest of former President Trump's conviction on 34 felony charges.โ
They are confused: there is no cult of Donald Trump, there is a cult of his behavior.
These are not true believers, they are idiots who think they will benefit if they ride his coattails.
But there are no coattails. The trial proved it.
GOP loves hate.

Food for thought:
In 2016 we were not as jaded/angry as we are now. As a nation we would have reacted differently to a candidate for president slept with a porn star while his wife was pregnant and paid her off.
He won by less than 80k votes in a couple swing states. Had he not hidden that story it is likely we would have never had a Trump president. The crime here is a misdemeanor, unless done to cover a crime like election tampering. His 34 felonies were how he stole 2016 election from us.
Mitch McConnell: โThese charges never should have been brought in the first place. I expect the conviction to be overturned on appeal.โ
Okay, Iโll bite โ my understanding is โ based on errors of law, fact, or procedure presented in the appealโ.
The defense presented, IMHO as IANAL, a crappy defense. Over the top to appeal to Trump, but not really a defense as such.
If anything, Merchan let Trump get away with too much. He bent over backwards to be lenient.

@JolieSaboteuse How about we revisit those background checks they require for all government jobs and contractors?
Harris shreds Trump in pitch perfect DNC speech.
