Colorado: *imposes a mandatory 10 cent per bag surcharge for grocery stores*
King Soopers (Kroger): *goes to a SIGNIFICANTLY smaller paper bag so they can collect more fees and pocket the profit*
I see you, you bastards.
@Museek Yes, but more often than not I forget to bring them, and we have regular recycling service in our neighborhood so I don't mind getting paper bags and then recycling them.
@ianthealy @Museek Theses bags are great. You can tuck several in your purse. Always there. https://beegreenbags.com/
@ianthealy Huh. Motherfuckers. thankfully, Ralphs (Kroger's as well) doesn't do that out here.
And a shitty store. Lived there 30+ yrs.
@ianthealy That's just ... sleazy.
@ianthealy that law is so stupid. Plastic bags make up 0.1% of PLASTIC waste in the state and then to charge for PAPER bags?!
So, so stupid.
@ianthealy Screw that! Folks gotta get their own grocery bags. Although there are issues with them as well. Always somethin'.
*sigh*
I've bought bags and keep them in my truck. I WISH I could get my husband to use them. I've bought bags from Etsy, Tumblr, and from I Heart Dogs. When you buy the bags from I Heart Dogs, they make a donation to feed shelter dogs. Sadly, they don't have the canvas bags anymore.
@ianthealy unsurprising
are you able to use your own? Thatβs what we do.
