He was never going to win them to his side. This was scheduled for one reason: Take the spotlight.
It's far more important for him to dominate the news cycle than win an intellectual argument. His supporters aren't "the sharpest tools in box."
The racist component is for his base, also.
He's not looking to win votes: he's looking to win the election. His only chance is through legal (and illegal) BS, supported by the corrupt "supreme" court.
Great perspective... that also explains his opening comeback: “I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner. A first question... Are you with ABC, because I think they’re a fake news network, a terrible network. I think it’s disgraceful that I came here in good spirit. I love the Black population of this country, I’ve done so much for the Black population of this country.”
