I'm surprised that so few people want to talk about their own death! 😂

I'd like to start a conversation about mortality. I've been thinking a lot about my own lately for no particular reason I can discern. The feeling that comes upon me when I think of eventually no longer existing is one of absolute dread. It's not paralyzing but I have to actively push it out of my thoughts. I wonder, not jokingly, if this is the beginning of a "midlife crisis".

The pessimistic/skeptical side of me is contemplating the horrible notion that the Israeli intelligence "failure" was not that at all. In his quest for continued power and political survival, Netanyahu has gone full on authoritarian in the last 5 years. Like all good (bad?) authoritarians, he believes he alone knows what's best for Israel and that all opposition must be silenced or made irrelevant. I'm thinking this could be a "wag the dog" deal with Hamas gone terribly awry.

Skipping through the GOP "debate" tonight...it's just a stream of hot garbage and unrealistic "policy"... I will say the FOX "News" host questions are interesting and they're being somewhat careful not to state outright lies.

I have to say, I am a cisgender white male with what I'd like to describe as a very open mind (I'm a computer scientist with actual social skills). I have never conversed with so many neurodivergent people, so many members of the LGBTQIA+ community, so many minorities, so many people with disabilities or chronic medical conditions, and so many people with so much compassion, empathy, and kindness. It's the true rainbow of humanity and I feel extremely fortunate to be here.

I'm just finishing up the last season of Titans (2018, HBO Max) and to say I'm disappointed... The series started out pretty well with good characterizations and a grittiness that you don't see on broadcast TV. But somewhere along the line the plot holes and in-universe inconsistencies started adding up. By now the only thing keeping me watching is to see how they wrap things up because I stayed invested. I'm sad but I guess I should've known given the track record of the DCU.
