@LSWellesley Right now it's snowing and blowing hard. It will be rough on the young leaves that are coming out on the trees. But back up to 70 by Sunday.
While out taking pictures last Thursday I had a GoPro hooked to my Camera backpack. It caught some very cool cloud formations while recording. These a three screen grabs from the video.
The Bridge to Knowledge
This bridge is one of the ways to get the Elk Rapids Library in Elk Rapids Michigan.
"Grandpa's Gift" a sculpture in front of the library in Elk Rapids Michigan. Reminded me of my own daughter and her grandpas. They were both very happy to read books with her.
Went out hiking in some local parks this morning. Only carried one small action camera and my cell phone with the Merlin Bird ID app. I saw 38 different types of birds and got several first of the year. Migration is in full swing in Michigan.
@NorCalCherylLyn It does. She is one of the popular teachers at her school. She has a disability they can see and still she chose to move to this remote place to work. They respect that and like to protect her.
@NorCalCherylLyn I agree! The stories my daughter can be chilling at times. I am so glad she has the support she has. One of her former students is now a local police officer and he checks on her often.
@NorCalCherylLyn It's always worse when it's your child in danger. I'm glad your daughter is OK.
A few years ago, my daughter had an emotionally impaired student who started threatening her in the classroom. She was able to get the dean of students and removed him. The next day her other students came in and told her she didn't need to worry about him anymore. After school they met him outside and took care of the problem. Not the solution my daughter wanted though.
@CasandbarT1917 Thank you! It is a scary time to be a teacher or student. My daughter works with special needs kids, but her room is open to everyone. Often at lunch her room is full of students who just like the quiet atmosphere of her classroom. But with her limited mobility I worry constantly.
@NorCalCherylLyn It is terrifying. My daughter has lived there for 18 years, and this has always been a fear of mine. She lives with cerebral palsy so moving to any cover can be challenging. I watch the local news from up there (it's 4000 miles away from where I am) so I knew soon after it happened. Plus, she is good about letting me know she is safe.
In 1997, Bethel Regional High School in Bethel Alaska had a school shooting. Two people died and two people were wounded. On Wednesday morning a student again brought a gun into the school.
It only made the local news. This is the school where my daughter teaches at. She was there at the time.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to my little Irish Princess. Mandy was born 3 months premature in 1981. 3-1/2 months later her mom passed away. Mandy lives with cerebral palsy from her early birth. In 2002 she was crowned Miss Hibernia (Irish Queen) of Genesee County in Michigan. For the last 18 years she has lived and worked in Bethel Alaska, 400 miles off the road system, as a special needs teacher.
