@LnzyHou Nice van!! I drove from Michigan to Alaska in 2013. I crossed the UP on US2 and on to western Minnesota. Headed north from there through Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and Yukon. I housesat for a couple who lived about 40 miles south of Denali National Park. On clear days Mt Denali was visible. I also flew out to my daughter's town for a stay before heading home. Three months on the road.
@LnzyHou My daughter grew up here in Michigan but the last 18 years remote Alaska has been her home. I hope to move closer to her in the near future.
@LnzyHou I used to tent camp in northern Michigan in the winter. This wasn't near as bad. (I do love the winter)
@swinemiester Thank you!
@dratino It was a cool evening to be out. I had deer running all around the area I was in so there was noise in the fog.
@Lindy Good Morning! It's really not that cold at the moment. The wind is beginning to pick up so that will certainly change.
@LPH6 Thank you! She lives with cerebral palsy and travels with a wheelchair so I'm always a nervous wreck when she travels. She contacts me often when she travels and that helps.
The waiting begins. My daughter is supposed to fly out of her small Alaskan town today at 7:53pm Alaskan time. Right now, they are under an extreme wind chill warning. Currently the temp is -15 with a windchill of -54. So far there are no flight cancellations. She is supposed to arrive in Traverse City Michigan tomorrow at 111:22am. Just hours ahead of the major winter storm which could drop 1-2 feet of snow and blizzard conditions by Christmas morning. I can relax once she is here.
@JohnRadcliff Thank you! I'll probably be sharing a few more images while I'm here. My daughter flies in on Thursday and we have plenty of food stocked up, so we are planning on staying close and spending time together.
@JohnRadcliff I am visiting my mom for Christmas, and this is her driveway tonight. The drive is about 800 feet long and it is a beautiful walk up to the closest roadway. There are 5 deer that stay close to her property, so I usually have company on my walks. There is the chance for more snow starting Thursday night and lasting through Saturday night so it should be a quiet Christmas.
Let It Snow
Tonight's walk. More snow on the way. It should be a white Christmas.
