@artemis Thank you! I feel most at home in the woods. I move slowly listening to the wind, the trees and the birds. There is life and wonder all around. It brings me peace.
@artemis Thank you! It's was a beautiful morning to be out.
@Anemone Thank you! She has always had to be extra careful and even though she lives in such a remote area it has worked to her benefit this time. Keep yourself safe and healthy too!
@CherNohio Thank you so much! I post most of my pictures on my website here... https://www.wildnessphotos.com/
@Anemone Thank you for asking. Community spread has reach her village. She was going to the school and working from her classroom but now she is staying at home. Being high risk she can't afford to take any chances. The hospital they have has no ICU beds so if she got sick it would mean a 400 mile medflight to Anchorage. There are no roads in or out of town.
@CherNohio Thank you!
@RandomUsr This little creek feeds into the infamous Flint River of Michigan. I have fished the Flint River before but I would never eat any of the fish from it. Being in Michigan though we have multitudes of clean rivers and lakes all around the state.
@rpardee Thank you!
Thank you! She is always extra careful. She lives with cerebral palsy and falls several times on good days. Bad weather she is more cautious. They see hurricane force winds on a regular basis. One winter she was blown over and the wind started pushing her across an open area. She is a teacher so she had her heavy book bag with her. That kept her from moving too far until some of her students helped her into the building.
@InvaderGzim Her town is about 40 miles inland. They are on the Kuskokwim River. She has lived there for 16 years so she is used to life on the edge of the world. Her take on the snow was the mud season is over.
@InvaderGzim I always liked the name "termination dust'" On a side note I have a daughter who lives on the western coast of Alaska just 40 miles from the Bering Sea. She called last night to tell me it was snowing there.
@InvaderGzim My Alaskan friends call it termination dust. It marks the end of summer. They live surrounded by mountains and post updates as the snow moves down the slopes.
@killagator I do remember the Mikatam. It burned down in 2009. It was the hot spot for a while. I don't drink and was never in the party scene so I never did go there myself. But I knew a lot of people who did.
@ceb Thank you! Worth all the funny looks I get when crawling around in the woods!
