Just saw this image on Reddit...

It never struck me, that town near mountains could SEE winter creeping down a mountainside towards them this time of year?!?!?

Wow!

@InvaderGzim My Alaskan friends call it termination dust. It marks the end of summer. They live surrounded by mountains and post updates as the snow moves down the slopes.

@gettinaway
It just makes sense... Just never seen or been told about it before...

Beautiful and incredible...

@InvaderGzim I always liked the name "termination dust'" On a side note I have a daughter who lives on the western coast of Alaska just 40 miles from the Bering Sea. She called last night to tell me it was snowing there.

@gettinaway
Oh my... I just heard about the storm heading that way... Hope she's away from the coast a bit!

@InvaderGzim Her town is about 40 miles inland. They are on the Kuskokwim River. She has lived there for 16 years so she is used to life on the edge of the world. Her take on the snow was the mud season is over.

@gettinaway
Whew... Good... Still hope she stays safe... It's supposed to be a big one.
