Good morning to you!

I'm off to rest up for a day of heavy rain, sandbags, and getting blown...

...around.

I almost cancelled myself on Saturday. I dropped the kids off to my Mum and then came home to do it.
I took myself to bed and lay there and stared at the ceiling for 3 hours. I was ready to do it when I came home, but I forced myself to bed instead and just lay there.
No one knows. I'm spiralling again. I'm tired.

I am a complete and total fuck up and I currently wish I didn't exist

It's a hokey pokey flurry with chocolate ice cream. I'm not sure how to feel about that lol

I write this down because it helps me to remember this journey this family is on as we learn together.

I have a ridiculous memory that shuts down any attempt to hold onto meaningful things. And I'm terrible at using a pen and paper to do it.

Holding a boundary while kiddo rages is one of the hardest things I've had to learn to do.

He tried to kick the back of his little sister's legs as she walked away from him after they couldn't agree on something. She was, rightly, removing herself from the situation when he lashed out. I'm not ok with that.

So I removed the screen time & have put him to bed. It's been 45 mins & he's just finally calmed down enough to be lying in bed w/out screaming & kicking the wall.

Set myself a to read 50 books this year. Should have started the series again on new year lol but oh well. I finished book 8 earlier and I'm halfway through 9 now. 5 books to go and it still gives me a good start to the challenge.

What are your recommendations to add to my list?

Speaking of Code Stink, a self-proclaimed "peace" organization.

They're demanding that the US stop arming Ukraine. They're not demanding or asking for peace in Ukraine, they're demanding that Russia be given a free hand to overrun and occupy yet another nation.

For two decades now I've been demanding that Code Pink be treated as an enemy of freedom, human rights, and this nation.

1st edition of my new pandemic news and data update video is out!

Pandemic News And Data Update For Wednesday January 18th 2023 youtu.be/B0OnfRBokZA via @YouTube

This was one of the scariest moments of my life, 20 years ago today.
Driving between suburbs with fire licking at the roads, the sky dark but also bright orange. Panicked silence as you reverse and chuck a U-turn as fire jumps the road in front of you.
Grateful that I had safety to go to. 4 people died that day and 500 homes razed to the ground. Hopefully never again.

@CriticalCupcake i think it becomes an exercise in futility - like prohibition. criminalizing something doesn't work. we've had much more success reducing smokers by:
1) education programs for young peeps
2) talking about illness & disease caused by smoking
3) seeing & showing the ravages of smoking

it's highly addictive so better to never start if we can manage it. make it unattractive as possible.

banning it won't work as well as making it uncool will/does. imho.

Our kids notice too.

Last year the Aus Open was the highest rating program on TV.

It's watched by millions of people, including children & families.

Alcohol marketing exposure increases the likelihood that kids will start to use alcohol, & to drink more if they are already using alcohol.

It's time to remove the marketing of alcoholic products from sports.

The Aus Open has 28 corporate 'partners'.

1 in 3 of these are alcohol companies.

That's 9 alcohol company sponsors in total.

If you're tuning into the Aus Open, scanning the website for results, looking at their social media over the next couple of weeks, you will see the marketing & product placement of these alcoholic products.

You'll see Aus Open branded champagne, tennis players smiling politely in front of alcohol branded banners, signage, pop up bars & 'activations' across the venue.

Forced myself to step outside and drink my hot choc instead of staying cooped up.

It's 2 am and I'm totally going to crash now after a long and quite interesting day , goodnight CoSos and thanks for being uplifting and kind and oh so funny!

Had a cleaner come through and do the floors in the main areas.

It gave me the headspace to buckle down and do something myself. Daughter's bedroom now looks like a bedroom again, her canopy up, poster on the wall, dollhouses set up.

Next step is son's bedroom, a harder task but feels doable now.

My partner and I have dropped the ball a bit, the house is a pigsty.

It's overwhelming and I try to start but I do one thing and get stuck mentally and can't keep it up

The kids won't help and say they don't care the house is a mess.

I stopped inviting people over.

Walk around with an open umbrella, regardless of the weather, and no one will even notice you.

Walk around a crowded space, which includes people who are coughing and sneezing, while wearing a maskβ€” you get glared at like weirdo pariah.
