My partner and I have dropped the ball a bit, the house is a pigsty.
It's overwhelming and I try to start but I do one thing and get stuck mentally and can't keep it up
The kids won't help and say they don't care the house is a mess.
I stopped inviting people over.

@gabzi3la when i was young, my mom always thought the same thing. she was hard on herself. we kids did help but we had to be told every time to clean up. there's emotional energy in keeping after peeps to do their part. we didn't care the house was a mess. we cared that we had clean clothes for school, clean dishes to eat from & food (not always available).
i never realized how emotionally draining it would be when your house isn't a sanctuary. so your feelings are completely normal.
@singlemaltgirl that's the word. Drained. It's exactly how I feel.

@gabzi3la i don't have much comfort to offer. when you have kids, it's just a challenge to keep the house clean AND keep up w/ the family life & work life & everything else.
i would say, just be kinder & gentler w/ yourself. make sure there's clean clothes. clean dishes, & keep the vermin out.
i mean, there's a difference btw messy & dirty. clean things but let the 'messy' go to spare your sanity.
...if the kids ever complain, you can tell them they could always do something about it ๐...
@gabzi3la
Similar here. We both have covid so in seperate rooms now. Plus our boi (๐) is incontinent so changing his diapers four times a day. Living room looks like a messy medical centre. Just gotta keep things as clean as possible and remember that "This too shall pass".
@Hisabah I hope Covid passes quickly and mildly for you xx
@gabzi3la itโs ok. As the song goes, youโre not the only one. If, and only if, you want advice from someone whoโs been there, I offer this: when you are up for it, pick up 1 thing and put it in its proper place, and take the win. No matter what, you are enough. And I offer you hugs if youโd like one.
@Flibitz thank you โค๏ธ I appreciate the hugs
@gabzi3la itโs a slog digging out of our procrastination. I have no good advice, only understanding, the hope you can get the anxiety under control and begin to gain control of the situation. ๐ค๐ป๐
