"Instead, (AIs) attempt to replicate the reasoning steps observed in their training data."

When I did simple tests, it involved variations of “What is two plus two plus one” — my reasoning is that “two plus two equals four” would show up a lot in training data (it did). Different LLM’s tried to discard, ignore or even say “that’s not a valid equation” (Google’s Bard).

Alfred would have none of it and created his own mathematics.

Now REAL doctors are alarmed Trump isn’t releasing his medical records.

"Trump is falling concerningly short of any standard of fitness for office and displaying alarming characteristics of declining acuity," the 238 signatories wrote in a letter dated Oct. 13 and first obtained by CBS News. "In the limited opportunities we can examine his behavior, he's providing a deeply concerning snapshot."

Only now is the media showing some interest.

If you have Republican fam who are voting for Trump because of his “promises” remind them that Trump had TWO YEARS that Republicans controlled Congress and the BEST they could do is give the rich a tax break.

Trump will do NOTHING for us.

@feloneouscat Psst….Psst…AI Doesn’t “Really” EXIST…It’s Really The Great Oz…In Emerald City……………..Shhh…DON’T TELL ANYONE….The Munchkins Would Have A Fit!!!

The common misconception of engineering is that we are out to denigrate the people we are in competition with: no, that is marketing.

Engineering is about risk management. The greater the risk the more likely you will lose your job. Testing AI is important because too many people want to believe it is a magic bullet that will solve all ills.

It isn’t.

This paper is important to explain there is little reasoning in AI.

Most engineers have to fight management’s bad ideas.

This helps.

Of course the writer says they the authors work for Apple so the paper can’t be good 🙄

“Testing models' on the benchmark that includes irrelevant information ‘exposes a critical flaw in LLMs’ ability to genuinely understand mathematical concepts and discern relevant information for problem-solving.’”

Musk-bros are so irritating:

“Musk is facing a lot of criticism because, well, he’s Elon Musk. Still, his accomplishments are unparalleled.”

No, he face criticism because he underperforms. He has spent a decade saying that “by the end of the year”

• gigafactories will be green (they are not)

• autonomous driving will be released

• his cars are the safest

His other companies languish and he bought Twitter for far too much. He isn’t brilliant — he got lucky.

This isn’t the Onion.

“Trump Insists He's Not Cognitively Impaired in Incomprehensible Rant”

Reality is more bizarre than fiction.

He also promised to tell us when he is cognitively impaired. He really doesn’t understand what that means.

Thanks Obamacare!

“ Vance’s mother was able to buy private insurance through the Affordable Care Act’s insurance marketplace, run by Ohio, after overcoming substance abuse, becoming financially stable, and earning too much to stay on Medicaid. At the debate, Vance was also referring to a cousin in Florida who got private insurance through the state marketplace, a campaign spokesperson told WaPo”

Vance “forgot” to mention his mom got insurance through Obamacare.

A billionaire’s son is just as out of touch as he is.

Trump: "(Barron) tells me about all the ‘hot’ guys, people I've never heard of [for podcasts]… but Don [Jr.] knows a lot about it and Eric knows a lot about it. Tiffany knows a lot. Ivanka knows a lot”

Wait, wait… his 46 year old and Barron know the same stuff? This is just beyond dumb.

That’s not even close to Jude’s-Christian values. He might want to read the Trump Bible.

“In meandering 10-minute remarks, Trump boasted of his popularity in the polls, denounced his opponent Vice President Kamala Harris as ‘not a good person’ and a ‘Marxist,’ and pointed to his policy platform to argue that he and LDS voters ‘really have the same values.’”

Which Commandment has Trump NOT broken?

To be fair, neither can Newsweek.

That’s only ONE DEFINITION of socialism. To argue it is REQUIRED to be socialist is just dumb. As my polysci Prof in college used to say, “England is a socialist country, yet everyone pretends it isn’t. Why?”

Fail.

“In an interview on Fox News Sunday, host Shannon Bream asked Walz about his use of the word ‘socialism’ during that livestream in which she cited Merriam-Webster's definition of socialism, which the dictionary defines it as ‘a system of society or group living in which there is no private property,’ adding that ‘means of production are owned and controlled by the state.’”

And now we know why Fox News is so dumb. They can’t even read a dictionary.

Quantum National Abortion Ban: it’s dead but also alive

“ Donald Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that a national abortion ban would be ‘off the table’ if he were elected president – but indicated that he was not closed off to the conversation and said ‘we’ll see what happens.’”

I’m not sure he understands what “off the table means” — he just spews words.

“ Aid to several communities impacted by Hurricane Helene was temporarily paused in parts of North Carolina over the weekend due to reports of threats against Federal Emergency Management Agency responders, amid a backdrop of misinformation about responses to recent storms.”

Assholes with guns.

Another reason guns need to be regulated.

True story:

Back when I was on Twitter I posted in regards to abortion about “people having abortions.”

Some ass responded, “‘people having abortions’? As if!”

To which someone else responded, “Did you know, women are people?”

“From my vantage point, the future looks handheld.”

Not today Satan.

Or, for that matter, for a couple of decades. The largest gaming demographic is men in their thirties and they use consoles. Yes, there is the occasional market, but it’s not the money maker (it makes money, don’t get me wrong, just not like COD).

The PRESENT is handheld, but the future will still be consoles because disposable income historically increases as you age.
