Aside from gun manufacturing, the only thing the US does well these days is finance capitalism. Everyone has all sorts of leeches bleeding people's bank accounts for this or that fee for mortgage, rent, insurance, subscriptions to stupid media junk, and now Elmo & Zuck think people will pay to use *corporate social media*, which has always been a barter system where the SM companies get our data in exchange for using their "service."

You know, it's no wonder so many people are vaguely anxious these days, given the fact that we're in this bizarre era of "rentier capitalism" when everyone's bank and credit card accounts have zillions of companies plugged into them, sucking out monthly subscription fees and all that, all while there are literally thousands of techies who could figure out how to hack those systems and take all our money if they made any effort. We're really lucky they haven't yet.
