The US military has abandoned its half-century dream of a suit of powered armor in favor of a “hyper enabled operator,” a tactical AI assistant for special operations forces.

science-fiction scribes may have envisioned a future of warfare shaped by brain implants and performing enhancing drugs, or a suit of powered armor straight out of Starship Troopers, but according to US Special Operations Command, the next generation of armed conflict will be fought (and, hopefully, won) with a relatively simple concept: the “hyper enabled operator.”
@corlin oh interesting
Good news indeed 👍
The president issued an executive order establishing the Cyber Safety Review Board in May 2021 and ordered it to start work by reviewing the SolarWinds attack.
But for reasons that experts say remain unclear, that never happened.
Nor did the board probe SolarWinds for its second report.
For its third, the board investigated a separate 2023 attack
The Cyber Safety Review Board missed an opportunity to prevent future attacks, experts say.

Well, there goes google maps
Google Maps is testing a new ad format that could cause distractions while driving
The pop up ad shows "sponsored" on them which means businesses are paying for these ads that pop up while your traveling and get near certain places

Selfie-based authentication raises eyebrows among infosec experts
Vietnam now requires it for some purchases - Vietnam began requiring face scans on phone banking apps as proof of identity for all digital transactions of around $400 and above
just days into the new regime, some apps have already been called out for accepting still photos instead of a live image of the individual.

@process it's not all about money......until it is lol
And most people just ain't making enough to survive these days they actually want more hours not less - ideal world a 4day week should work for most - reality if they see a lose in hours that means a loss in pay more than likely
That said certain sectors it could save hundreds of thousands of pounds for councils etc.....cutting back on using agency workers for they roles focusing on full time workers more
Employers everywhere from Sweden to the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand to the US have experimented with the four-day week. But last week the government of Greece announced a new six-day week policy for private companies aimed at boosting the economy amid a shrinking population and shortage of skilled workers. It is seeking longer hours from workers to turbocharge productivity.
The time taken to process changes to housing benefit and council tax benefit claims fell.

The multi-year study of the trial involving about 450 desk staff plus refuse collectors found:
Staff turnover fell by 39%, helping save £371,500 in a year, mostly on agency staff costs.
Regular household planning applications were decided about a week and a half earlier.
Approximately 15% more major planning application decisions were completed within the correct timescale, compared with before.
