Word has it 2nd shift set 2 production records... 1st shift is gonna be pissed 🤣

@duglop @Museek Yes, with Tall J, now just turned 18, a few things I did:
- as a 2-3yo, when he hit me or flailed, as boy toddlers do with their first bursts of testosterone, I’d uncurl his fists, pick him up, and rock him.
- If he was having a rage, I’d let him know he gave me an owie and he’d get the time out chair.
- When he came back, he had to explain why he was sitting there and what could he do differently
- used variants on that as he grew

Hey remember that old Santa Claus is coming to town character Winter warlock? I used to work with a guy that looked exactly like him for real Right down to the nose!

@NiveusLepus in a perfect world maybe lol, another round as we speak but just like every other day starting it off in a great mood... Have a great day

@duglop Sounds like you're slowly building a dream team. Eventually, hopefully, management will figure this out.

@NiveusLepus I'm really super proud of the three other guys I trained at my old position, they are doing really well, they ran into a horrible situation Saturday where first shift didn't do anything and they made it happen

@NiveusLepus I can imagine, when I was a firefighter I drove a fire truck a few times but I just didn't have the feel for it...

@NiveusLepus yeah one shift can definitely make or break everything then again there's many days where we are missing two to three people and we're working two or three jobs besides our own position to make up for it... That happens at almost every job but some job situations are more difficult to work around when that happens.. I couldn't imagine a librarian going through a stressful situation like that and yet it happens

@duglop I was an OTR truck driver for a year and a half, and it seemed an unwritten rule of the universe that one shift could get you out quick as anything, and another shift, well, you better bring a book and get comfortable.

Experience counts so much in those trades. Over the course of a year, I progressed so far in my ability to work the truck it boggles me even now.

@NiveusLepus I go into work positive everyday. Kind of like a workout routine... I put my music on to get myself in a good work mode to go in with a smile joking carrying on building other people up and supporting them... So it's not like I go into work with a bad attitude at all quite the opposite actually...

@NiveusLepus thank you I appreciate that very much so I even shut down for a week at the end of November I was just so tired and worn out I have a feeling I'll probably shut down in a few days for a few days again just to turn everything off like that light switch... And recharge

@duglop It's an admirable trait to be focused on a long game, when its raining so hard on you now. If you ever need someone to vent too, I'm always happy to listen.

Knowing that there are better days I'm building towards helps me too.

@NiveusLepus And yes and no about the skill I mean I work in the coolers I drive a stand up forklift in very tight cramped areas but I can do things many drivers can't (yet) because I have over 30 years experience... I've already been promoted from when I started to this position so, And I'm training other people for other positions on the shift, The problem is they need to get other people up to speed on the other shifts. That's what's killing us

@duglop Hard days are a function of any job that is true, but from my vantage, if work is making you consistently miserable, well, we only have so much time in the world, and I hate that you're miserable.

It sounds like you work in a highly skilled job, is there a chance of greener grass?

@NiveusLepus This is the greener grass... The job I left last year was 10 times worse than this job... The pay at this job is better... Things will improve once I get our other facilities built and functioning but for now we got to do what we got to do to make it work

@NiveusLepus it's no different than any other stressful atmosphere at any job just different parameters, circumstances and situations.. and some days are just worse than others... yesterday started out great and then about 5 hours into the shift evil Monday appeared and things got chaotic... We always seem to make it happen so then they expect more out of us the next time...

@Museek @JGSchaeffer I did the exact same thing - my kids got put in a time out and lost a privilege for the day as well as we'd sit down and talk to them about the situation, whereas I'd get the belt and sent to bed with no supper :(
